It's always an exciting time for PS Plus subscribers when the calendar flips over. Many subscribers, of course, are likely celebrating Halloween at the end of this month, but November will be here soon. The PS Plus free games for October 2022 are almost gone, leaving the service on November 1, so Halloween festivities shouldn't distract anyone who has yet to claim those. These titles are Need for Speed Heat, Granblue Fantasy Versus, and TOEM.

Replacing them on November 1 (and available until December 5) are Nioh 2, LEGO Harry Potter Collection, and Heavenly Bodies as the PS Plus free games for November 2022. Fans should be aware that LEGO Harry Potter Collection only has a native PS4 version, but Nioh 2 and Heavenly Bodies will have PS4 and PS5 versions available. Indeed, there's some solid variety among these titles that should make fans happy, but it also proves another important point: Sony intends to retain the quality that the PS Plus free games have always been known for.

PS Plus Free Games Are Not Suffering for Extra and Premium

One thing that's important to understand is how PS Plus often operates in patterns or waves. There was a period when PS Plus subscribers were consistently unhappy with the service, while it always added two games every month. Ahead of the PS5's release, the PS Plus free games offered more and better games every month, sometimes (read rarely) including five games. This hot streak died down a little when the PS5 was released, but it was always uncertain how the new Extra and Premium tiers would impact the PS Plus free games. After all, it would be understandable if Sony muddied down the free selection as a way to push its higher tiers on fans. However, it seems that's not happening.

October's selection of games was solid, while November's is too. A few months removed from the launch, it's clear that Sony sees its tiers as a whole package instead of a layered subscription. Splitting the PS Plus free game announcements from the Extra and Premium announcements has the added benefit of keeping the service as a whole in the conversation, while the latter often remains bigger than the free games. This means it's a whole meal: every month, Sony serves up the free games as an excellent appetizer basket before Extra and Premium comes in with the full meal.

Given that every release of PS Plus Extra and Premium games has included nearly 20, if not more, titles, having more curated free games only builds hype for the next reveal. And the constant reveal and release method here is a pattern that Sony should definitely keep up. It remains to be seen if and how Sony changes its approach to these games in the future, but for now, fans are eating good.

PS Plus subscribers get a handful of games every month.
