With very few exceptions, Sony is like clockwork with the PS Plus announcements. It happens on the last Wednesday of every month, which means that subscribers will know what November is offering in just a few days. Then, a couple days into the month, the PS Plus games will become available.

However, November 2020 isn't just any old month. The next generation of gaming is almost here, with the PS5 releasing on November 12, two days after the Xbox Series X. That begs a few questions on how the two companies will address new consoles with their subscription service, but specifically, Sony should address the elephant in the room: the PS5 itself.

Sony is stuck between a wall and a hard place in formulating November's games because many will be too caught up in the new releases. Whether sticking with the PS4 or upgrading to the PS5, games like Demon's Souls Remake, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Godfall are likely to consume a gamers' time (and that's not counting third party games). In other words, with roughly a week between PS Plus games becoming available and the PS5 releasing, there needs to be a lot of incentive to download them.

PS Plus free games for November 2020 ought to acknowledge this hardship but offer a simple fix: some type of bonus for PS5. Clearly, Sony's not likely to give away a brand new PS5 game just on the PS5 via PS Plus, but something of that nature would be appreciated. There is the PS Plus collection to buff a player's PS5 library, yet that's unlikely to be touched day one. Again, PS Plus falls victim to the fall season and the idea of new, but it could easily join in to celebrate the launch of the PS5.

Sony has to be aware that the launch of the PS5 is going to temporarily adjust its PS Plus offering, at least the popularity thereof anyway. As the fall season ends and next-gen games spread more out, there's no doubt that the monthly offerings of PS5 games will bounce back. However, Sony should do something with this announcement to take this into consideration and give players some special benefit as they transition to PS5. What that could be is hard to imagine, but perhaps some type of reward when claiming the games on a PS5. Whatever the case, the next few weeks are going to be very interesting for the gaming community.
