PlayStation fans in June have a lot to look forward to. They have a chance to watch Sony's 2015 E3 press conference live in movie theaters, and they can also look forward to having timed-exclusive content for the highly anticipated Batman: Arkham Knight on PS4.

June is also bringing with it a fresh batch of free games through Sony's popular PlayStation Plus program. PS Plus subscribers will be able to download six titles new to the service beginning on June 2nd.

PS4 owners have the most to look forward to, as they will also receive the two games slated to be made free for Sony's fledgling PS Vita system, with Super Exploding Zoo and Futuridium EP Deluxe. Super Exploding Zoo is a quirky tower defense style game, wherein players protect animal eggs using exploding animals. The latter is a unique, cyberpunk shooter set to an electronic soundtrack.

The PS4 will also have two free games all to itself, headlined by Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes. Designed as a "prologue" to this year's Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, Ground Zeroes is known for being notoriously short, easily completed within two hours, though the record is an astonishing 10 minutes. Perhaps those that play Ground Zeroes as a free game will be able to appreciate it more and not stress about the incredibly short play time.

In the meantime, the PS4 will also receive Skulls of the Shogun: Bone-A-Fide Edition. This is an enhanced port of Skulls of the Shogun, a game that released last-generation to decent reviews. It is a turn-based strategy game that tasks players with controlling an army of undead samurai.

The PS3 is receiving two games this month as usual. Firstly, there's Cloudberry Kingdom, a colorful platformer featuring procedurally generated levels. PS3 owners can also look forward to Call of Juarez: Gunslinger. The fourth and latest game in the Call of Juarez series, it released to a generally apathetic reception by the gaming community, but has since developed a small cult following. Hopefully its inclusion as a free PS Plus title will allow those that would never have otherwise purchased the game to discover its charm and quality gameplay.

So, in conclusion, here are the free PS Plus games for June 2015:

  • Call of Juarez: Gunslinger (PS3)
  • Cloudberry Kingdom (PS3)
  • Futuridium EP Deluxe (PS4, Vita)
  • Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes (PS4)
  • Skulls of the Shogun: Bone-A-Fide Edition (PS4)
  • Super Exploding Zoo (PS4, Vita)

May's PS Plus offerings seemed to be structured around a central theme of having unique art styles. June is all over the map, with one game a first-person shooter, the next an indie platformer, and another the latest entry in one of gaming's biggest franchises. Regardless, these are fairly decent offerings, and should keep PS Plus subscribers sticking around for another month.
