One of the upcoming PS Plus free games is Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, according to a recent leak, which is perfect timing for the subsequent release of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor in March 2023. The other leaked PS Plus free games for January 2023 are Fallout 76 and Axiom Verge 2, a solid start to the year.

Sony is expected to confirm these games on December 28 and release them on January 3, though it is possible (if unlikely) the holiday season delays the company's typical schedule. Until then, this rumor should be treated with a healthy grain of salt, but this information comes way of Dealabs and Twitter user Billbil-kun. This figure has accurately leaked PS Plus games, Epic Games Store games, and many others in the past, so if anyone in the industry has earned their followers' trust, it's them.

PS Plus Free Games for January 2023 Are Preparing Subscribers for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

Giving away Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order in January is a wise move by PS Plus. By now, many fans have likely already played the 2019 title, so had it been released before Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was announced, it would likely barely move the needle. Releasing it in January, after recently getting a release date for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, means fans are likely to use PS Plus to return. They may no longer have the game and/or they may be interested in playing Star Wars Jedi: Survivor on their PS5, meaning this is a great argument for both replaying it and for Sony's latest console.

Replaying Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order before Survivor would definitely have its perks. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is introducing new content like a blaster and lightsaber combo, as well as the Crossguard lightsaber. Both of these features do not exist in Jedi: Fallen Order, and in fact, the sequel's gameplay already looks like a major step up. Gameplay is something best felt, not seen though, and playing the original before the sequel releases would emphasize all of this.

Not to mention, many fans are curious about Merrin's fate in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, as she and other Mantis Crew members seem to have scattered to the wind by the sequel. Merrin may or may not appear, as she has not been seen in marketing yet, but getting the whole story, seeing the whole Mantis Crew, and experiencing Cal's first journey before his next is a big draw for PS Plus subscribers, as well as any Star Wars fan really.
