Many are likely looking forward to the PS Plus free games for May 2022 reveal, which is expected to take place on April 27. This is true of any month, but it is perhaps double this time because many PS Plus subscribers are not happy with the free games for April.

PS Plus has gone back and forth between well-received and ill-received months this year, based on the selection of games. There’s ultimately no way to know what PS Plus will offer month after month, but that doesn’t mean fans can't have their own hopes. Many share their wish lists month after month, and sometimes they’re accurate or close based on pure luck. They're not most of the time. Either way, here are a few ideas that would be great to see in May or eventually on PS Plus.

PS Plus Free Games for May 2022 – Immortals Fenyx Rising (PS5)

Sony generally aims, it seems, to get at least one PS5 game in each selection, although day-one PS5 games have stopped. Part of that may be due to the small pool of PS5 games too, but that will hopefully improve as time marches on. One PS5 game that could do well on PS Plus is Immortals Fenyx Rising from Ubisoft. It’s a solid, hilarious single-player game that released in late 2020, so it’s not really too soon for it.

It's an open-world action-adventure game that uses the best of Ubisoft’s world design, complete with solid platforming elements, puzzles, and combat. Some have compared its stamina system to Breath of the Wild’s, though they're not exact, and overall it has some pretty strong reviews. It would make for a good headlining title for PS Plus.

PS Plus Free Games for May 2022 – Dark Souls Remastered (PS4)

Elden Ring’s popularity shows no sign of slowing down, but there are players who have reached the ending, who have begun New Game Plus, and who have unlocked all the trophies for it. Without a doubt, it has left its impact on the industry, and many will be curious as to what to follow it up with. A tour through FromSoftware’s catalog would be suiting, with games like Dark Souls, Demon’s Souls, Sekiro, and Bloodborne all being worth a first time visit (or revisit).

Demon’s Souls or Dark Souls Remastered would be a good pick for someone choosing this route, but of the two, Demon’s Souls seems less likely to be on PS Plus as it was a PS5 launch title. With the general improvements made to Dark Souls Remastered, it would be a good choice as a starting point to play through all the Souls games.

It would likely do well, especially now, on the service, but it should be noted that it has a pretty major roadblock. The only FromSoft games to ever appear on PS Plus are Demon’s Souls (PS3) and Bloodborne, both of which are IPs owned by Sony. Generally speaking, Bandai Namco Entertainment-owned games don’t appear on the service a lot. Elden Ring could certainly change this and this is just a wish list after all, so hopefully, it happens someday even if not in May.

PS Plus Free Games for May 2022 – World War Z (PS4)

If there are two constants in the gaming industry, it’s that zombie games are a classic and shooters are beloved. Many games combine the two, and that formula has been iterated upon several times. World War Z finds itself in these shoes, and it’s a game many are split over. However, PS Plus would be a good way for it to reach a wider audience. With several locations, classes, intense battles, a working story, and a unique approach with PvPvZ (Player vs. Player vs. Zombies) modes, it would be a solid addition to the lineup.

PS Plus subscribers get a handful of free games every month.
