Sony typically reveals the PS Plus free games on the last Wednesday of a month prior to the first Tuesday of the next. That Tuesday is when Sony will add the new games to the line-up, meaning for February, Sony will likely reveal the new games on January 26 to be released on February 1. Already, February is a busy month for video games with major releases like Horizon Forbidden West, Sifu, Elden Ring, Dying Light 2, and more, but that doesn’t mean PS Plus should pull its punches.

What follows is a simple, fun wish list for PS Plus next month. Although there may be some patterns to PS Plus games, there’s never any telling what Sony may choose, so these should not be taken as official or as fool-proof predictions. Anyway, here’s a wish list of games for PS Plus free games in February 2022.

PS Plus Free Games for February 2022 – Life is Strange: Remastered Collection

While it remains uncertain, Life is Strange: Remastered Collection feels like it may just be a PS Plus title. There are a couple of reasons for this, but first and foremost, its release date is listed as February 1. Several PS5 releases on PS Plus have been day one titles, and Life is Strange: Remastered Collection fits into that bubble perfectly. Plus, when factoring in Sony and Square Enix’s strong relationship and the fact that Life is Strange is guaranteed to have a strong base at launch, it seems like an easy pick. At the same time, it’s also sort of a dream pick, but it would be nice to see on PS Plus for sure.

PS Plus Free Games for February 2022 – Firewatch

Assuming there will be at least one PS4 game, Sony would do well to go with a fan-favorite indie game that has come back to the public eye: Firewatch. Criticized for its ending and technical issues, Firewatch is more remembered for its story, characters, dialogue, and visuals. Firewatch is an indie darling adventure game, set in Wyoming in 1989. As the PC Henry, players must explore the area around his town in Shoshone National Forest to find clues of a figure who is watching him and a ransacking of his tower. Player decisions impact his relationship with Delilah, players can find new areas and objects, and players have to deal with a day-night cycle. Overall, it’s a strong indie game that would be welcome on PS Plus.

PS Plus Free Games for February 2022 – It Takes Two

Multiplayer/co-op games are often popular on PS Plus because it helps establish a community. For example, with the release of Deep Rock Galactic, that player base exploded in size thanks to PS Plus. The same has happened in the past with Fall Guys and Rocket League, and so it would be interesting to see It Takes Two as a PS Plus free game for February 2022. Not only would it mean that friends wouldn’t have a reason to download it, but it would be a good chance for everyone to experience the Game Awards’ Game of the Year of 2021. In it, players—as couple-on-verge-of-divorce Cody and May—must work together to get back to their real bodies after being transformed into toys. What follows is a heartwarming and nuanced tale.

PS Plus Free Games for February 2022 Should Maintain One Potential Pattern

If there’s anything that fans should hope to see in February, it’s a continued pattern from January 2022. It’s not exactly a pattern if it doesn’t continue, of course, but PS Plus has two native PS5 games on the lineup in January: Deep Rock Galactic and Dirt 5. More support for the PS5 is only a good thing for owners, while PS4 users still get to claim the PS4 version of every game. Ultimately, it worked great for Deep Rock Galactic especially (as its player base skyrocketed), and it’s something that should continue.
