Generally speaking, the PS Plus games for March every year tend to be the best offered. This pattern has been consistent for a few years, but at the same time, the general quality of each month has wavered. Practically since the launch of the PS5, however, the PS Plus free offerings have been on the up-and-up minus a month or two, but PS Plus' free games for February 2023 are easily strong contenders. They could be some of the best this year, and it'll be interesting to see if February takes March's crown this year.

Until March 6, PS Plus subscribers are able to claim Evil Dead: The Game, OlliOlli World, Destiny 2: Beyond Light, and Mafia: Definitive Edition. The general variety should be applauded, but each is a great game in its own right, with some having especially good timing.

PS Plus Free Games for February 2023 vs. March 2023

The Evil Dead game was released on PS Plus just after the 40-man Splatter Royale was added to the game, with multiplayer titles often doing well on the service. Combine that fact with a beloved IP and a beloved new game mode, and it's on par with Destiny 2: Beyond Light's addition, which may encourage fans to check out content new and old ahead of Destiny 2: Lightfall at the end of February. For those not into horror IP or sci-fi, there's OlliOlli World which reviewed well, presents plenty of fun challenges, and is an otherwise solid skateboarding platformer. And Mafia: Definitive Edition was applauded for bringing one of the best games into the series to modern hardware with some smart updates. There's a little something for everyone here, with the quality bar being held pretty high.

As a result, it'll be interesting to see if the PS Plus free games for March 2023 are able to raise that bar even higher or if, in a surprising move, February beats out March. Since 2018, PS Plus has given away some of its best games of the year out in March, including Bloodborne, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, The Witness, Shadow of the Colossus, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and more. That's an impressive array of games, plus a variety of others, to release in a particular month of the year. The question is if PS Plus will give out something that can beat Destiny 2, OlliOlli, or any of the aforementioned games this year.

That's certainly a possibility, especially since timing is a key factor in a couple of these, and titles like Bloodborne are pretty universal. At the same time, that's still a huge challenge to overcome. Perhaps February will prove to be better in the end, perhaps March comes out with some major surprises, but either way, PS Plus is proving its worth and value this month and is likely to do so again next month. That's without even factoring in the new PS Plus Extra and Premium games that will release too.

PS Plus subscribers get a handful of games every month.
