Without a doubt, many are excited to see what the PS Plus free games for February 2022 will be. They are expected to be announced on Wednesday, January 26, ahead of their release on February 1. Right now, there is one major aspect to the PS Plus free games for January 2022 that many fans hope to see return: two PS5 games.

For January, both Deep Rock Galactic and Dirt 5 had native PS5 versions offered on PS Plus. The third, Persona 4 Strikers, was the only full PS4 game on the roster, which doesn’t mean PS5 owners couldn’t play it, but that the other games rewarded them a little more. The surprising part is that, while the official announcement is slated for tomorrow, many expected to know sooner.

Will The PS Plus Free Games Leaks End in 2022?

It’s obviously a bit early to spell out doomsday, but it’s worth noting that French forum Dealabs has leaked the free PS Plus games ahead of time, accurately, for the past six months or so. They’ve all been done to a high degree of accuracy, and so clearly it was based on insider information. Leaks, if not done with tact, tend to do more harm than good, but for the most part, this just got fans official confirmation shortly ahead of the reveal.

It's uncertain what happened or if anything happened at all. As it stands, there’s been no leak for the PS Plus free games for February 2022, and it’s unlikely to happen—at least how it has in the past—now. It could happen just ahead of the announcement tomorrow, but that would be a smaller time frame than usual. If it does happen, then it’s likely no big deal, but it is curious why it hasn’t happened yet.

Overall, there are a few possibilities (although this is speculation). Sony could have stepped in, asking Dealabs to no longer publish these posts or allow them to be made. It could be that the user BillBil-Kun, who has been responsible for all of these, got into some sort of trouble for the company. Those are the worst possible scenarios, and it’s more likely that either BillBil-Kun just didn’t get the information this time around or that they longer have access to their source. It could be a one-off, or it could mean that are no more PS Plus leaks—at least via Dealabs—this year.

Nonetheless, it’s a mixed bag. It’s not the most harmful leak in the gaming industry, but it does take away that surprise for many fans. That’s something Sony would understandably want to protect, but at the same time, why there's no leak could be more innocuous than that. Either way, the official games are expected to be revealed tomorrow, January 26, and whether a leak happens shortly before or not may suggest the state of PS Plus leaks for early 2022.
