Sony is expected to reveal the next batch of PS Plus free games on Wednesday, March 29, and it'll be interesting to see what comes in April. The PS Plus free games for March 2023 were good, but not great, being bogged down by the still largely negative opinion surrounding Battlefield 2042. However, April has already started off on the right foot.

PS Plus recently confirmed Meet Your Maker as a Day One Essential Tier release, and it's a community-driven building-and-raiding multiplayer game. It may not have the same brand recognition as a Battlefield game, but it has a real chance of seeing similar successes to Rocket League and Fall Guys when it hits the service. It helps that it's made by Dead by Daylight developer Behaviour Interactive as well, so it does have that pedigree. For now, the remaining two games are impossible to predict, but here would be some good games to pair with Meet Your Maker.

PS Plus Free Game for April 2023: Sonic Frontiers

With Meet Your Maker fulfilling a multiplayer space with plenty of general appeal, PS Plus may want to include a narrative-based game that hones in on a specific fanbase. Sonic Frontiers would be a good pick for that. In it, Sonic explores the open zones of Starfall Islands to save his friends and collect the Chaos Emeralds. It should be noted that, generally speaking, it would be unlikely just because the game is so relatively new.

However, since Sony is moving forward with more day-one games like Meet Your Maker on PS Plus Essential and Tchia on PS Plus Extra, that would suggest it's possible to consider a game that hasn't been out as long as others. And Sonic is a good fit for that boot, simply because so many Sonic games have appeared on PS Plus in the past.

PS Plus Free Game for April 2023: The Outer Worlds

Recommending a Microsoft-owned game for PS Plus may seem odd at first glance, but there's been a pattern as of late where they have appeared on the service. Over the past few months, Skyrim, Minecraft Dungeons, and Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire have appeared on PS Plus, all Microsoft-owned games from Microsoft-owned studios. It definitely appears odd given Sony and Microsoft's continued back-and-forth over the ABK deal, but there's no denying The Outer Worlds would be a solid addition. It's a Sci-Fi RPG with plenty of character building, choices to make, and companions to befriend, and it would nestle in nicely along Sonic Frontiers and Meet Your Maker to ensure there's plenty of variety.

PS Plus Extra and Premium Games for April 2023 Wish List

Dino Crisis

Sony typically adds about seventeen to twenty or so games every month to the PS Plus Extra and Premium tiers, with March 2023's list including two PSP games, Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection, Immortals Fenyx Rising, and more. However, the sheer number of games and, at that, possible games when going back through various console generations is incredibly high. Hopefully, Sony gets to highly requested games like Dino Crisis sooner rather than later, but here are a few games that would likely do well if added to the service.

  • PS5: Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, World War Z, Resident Evil Village
  • PS4: Burnout Paradise Remastered, Valkyria Chronicles 4 Complete Edition
  • PS3: Journey
  • PSP: Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology
  • PS2: Tekken 2, Ico
  • PS1: Dino Crisis

PS Plus subscribers get a handful of games every month.
