A horror game is set to leave PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium later this month. PS Plus Extra and Premium members get to access a catalog of games with hundreds of titles across a variety of genres. Premium subscribers get a few additional bonuses, such as the ability to download select PS1, PS2, PSP, and PS3 games.

Sony adds new titles to the PS Plus catalog in the middle of each month. PlayStation added Deathloop, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, and Assassin's Creed Origins among others to the collection in September 2022, but the lineup for October 2022 is yet to be revealed. Games often leave PS Plus Extra and Premium as well, but the date between titles. It now looks like a horror game will leave the PS Plus catalog of games in October 2022.

Soma is set to leave PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium on October 18, 2022. Sony usually updates a game’s store page to mark the date it leaves the service, and the same is true in this case. The PlayStation Store page states that PS Plus Extra members get access to Soma, and hundreds of other games, as a part of their subscription. Right below it, fans can see that the offer ends on October 18, which marks the date Soma will leave PS Plus. Users interested in playing it only have ten days remaining, although it’s a relatively short game.

Soma game

Soma originally came out in 2015 to a positive critical reception, with a lot of praise being given to its story. It belongs to the survival horror genre and was developed by a Swedish studio named Frictional Games. The same developer is responsible for other horror titles like the Penumbra and Amnesia series of games.

It should be noted that users lose access to a game after it leaves the Extra and Premium tiers, but some PS Plus members can continue playing Soma after October 18. Soma was given out as a free monthly PS Plus game in December 2018. The free monthly games function slightly differently, as players who added the game to their accounts back then will retain access to it until their membership expires.

It’s still pretty strange for a horror game to leave PS Plus Extra and Premium in the month of October. However, Sony may have other plans to celebrate the festival of Halloween, as it can add a bunch of horror games to the PS Plus catalog later this month.
