PlayStation Plus Extra, the second-highest tier of Sony's PlayStation Plus subscription service, is set to add three local co-op games on September 20. Sony has now established a pattern of updating its PS Plus Extra and Premium lineups around the middle of the month, and September 2022 will be no exception. September 20 will see the PS Plus Extra library updated again, this time with at least three local co-op games for higher-tier PlayStation Plus subscribers to check out.

On September 20, PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers can check out Rayman Legends, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game, and Spiritfarer: Farewell Edition with their subscriptions. All three games are notable for being well-received by fans and critics alike, earning strong reviews and particular praise for their co-op integration. Better yet, all three games have local co-op support, which is always appreciated in a day and age when the vast majority of games stick with online-only options.

Rayman Legends is the headliner of the new local co-op games coming to PS Plus Extra on September 20. Earning widespread critical acclaim at the time of its original release in 2013, Rayman Legends is generally considered one of the better platformers of the last decade. The entire game can be played in local co-op with up to four players, with plenty of collectibles and hidden content to hunt down.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game, meanwhile, is a co-op beat 'em up based on the Scott Pilgrim vs. The World comic book series. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game was infamously de-listed from digital storefronts back in the day, but Ubisoft revived it for modern platforms. It retells the story of the comic book in the guise of a classic arcade beat 'em up, while also incorporating RPG elements. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game earned mostly positive reviews and like Rayman Legends, up to four people can play it at once.

Spiritfarer: Farewell Edition is a completely different beast than Rayman Legends and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game. Whereas those are action-oriented titles, Spiritfarer is a more laid-back, relaxed kind of gaming experience, where players look after spirits on a boat. Two players can play through the game together, with one player controlling main character Stella, and the second player playing as her cat Daffodil. The co-op partner is able to do pretty much whatever the first player can, so even though they're playing as a cat, they can contribute just as much to the game.
