Sony's revamped PlayStation Plus subscription service offers undeniable value, giving gamers access to hundreds of modern and retro games for a relatively low monthly fee. There are three tiers for PlayStation Plus subscribers to choose from, with PS Plus Extra basically functioning like the now-defunct PlayStation Now service. It gives players access to a large catalog of games that they can stream and download, though titles rotate in and out of availability as opposed to being there for subscribers to keep forever.
It's rare for a game to leave the PS Plus Extra lineup compared to its competitors, but it's not unheard of. Earlier this month, Shadow Warrior 3 left PS Plus Extra, which was significant as it was the first PlayStation Now day one game. And now another game is being removed from the PS Plus Extra lineup in the very near future, so anyone interested in checking it out should do so while they still can.
Come July 19, PS Plus Extra subscribers will no longer have access to Syberia. Syberia is a classic adventure game created by Benoit Sokal that is part of a long-running series of similar narrative-driven titles. The version of Syberia that is scheduled to leave PS Plus Extra on July 19 is the PlayStation 3 re-release of the game, which originally released in 2014, a whopping 12 years after its original release.
Syberia won't be the last game to be removed from PS Plus Extra. In August, two more games are set to be removed from the PS Plus Extra lineup, with both titles getting the boot on August 31. NBA 2K22 and WRC 10 are the PS Plus Extra games being removed on August 30, so fans of racing and sports games may want to check them out while they're still available to play through PS Plus Extra.
On September 20, PS Plus Extra is losing one of the most notable games currently available to play on the service, as that's the day Red Dead Redemption 2 is removed. Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the most critically-acclaimed video games of all time, and so it being removed from the PS Plus Extra library is potentially going to be a big blow. There are still plenty of other noteworthy games available to play through PS Plus Extra, of course, but few are able to stand toe to toe with RDR2.
And finally, October 17 will see the removal of the original Red Dead Redemption as well as its standalone expansion, Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare. It's unfortunate to see these games removed from PS Plus Extra, but the good news is that subscribers have plenty of advanced notice to prepare.
