So far, PlayStation has done a lot to make the new PlayStation Plus tiers worth the price of admission. The PlayStation Plus Extra tier, for example, started off with a dizzying number of PS4 and PS5 games for subscribers to check out, including heavy hitters like Demon's Souls, Returnal, and Spider-Man: Miles Morales. More recently, PS Plus Extra boosted its library with the addition of "cat game" Stray, which has proven to be the big indie hit of the summer.

But while PlayStation is regularly adding new content to PS Plus Extra and the other PlayStation Plus tiers, there are times when games are removed from the service as well. In July, PS Plus Extra lost Shadow Warrior 3 and Syberia, and now in August, the PS Plus Extra tier is set to lose three more games. Considering this, those subscribed to PS Plus Extra (or the pricier PS Plus Premium tier, for that matter) should be sure to try them out for free while they still can.

The first game leaving PS Plus Extra in August is Killzone: Shadow Fall, which is scheduled to be removed on August 11 at 9am CT. The removal of Killzone: Shadow Fall comes a day ahead of its online multiplayer services being shut down, which has caused some uproar in the community. While Killzone: Shadow Fall is nearly a decade old at this point, and didn't exactly have an active player base, the fact remains that no new Killzone game has replaced it, making its shut down sting that much more.

  • Killzone: Shadow Fall - August 11
  • NBA 2K22 - August 31
  • WRC 10 - August 31

Later in August, two more games are scheduled to leave the PS Plus Extra lineup. August 31 will be the last day that PS Plus subscribers can play NBA 2K22 and WRC 10 with their subscriptions. NBA 2K22 is the latest entry in the long-running NBA 2K basketball series, while WRC 10 is a racing game. Anyone interested have until the end of the month to try the games before they're removed from the PS Plus Extra lineup.

Looking ahead, even more games are scheduled to be removed from PS Plus Extra, including some of the best games on the service. September 20 will see the removal of Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar's critically-acclaimed open world western, while October 17 will see the original Red Dead Redemption and the Undead Nightmare standalone expansion removed. But while there are some games being removed from PS Plus Extra every month, there are far more titles added to the lineup, so subscribers should never have a shortage of games to play.
