The games available on the PlayStation Plus Extra service continue to change over time, with multiple popular titles being removed in late December. Recent updates to the PlayStation Store have shown that some popular titles like Assassin's Creed: Valhalla will be leaving PS Plus Extra, and it looks like Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition will be leaving as well.

While there isn't currently an official announcement from Playstation regarding the removal of Pillars of Eternity from the PS Plus Extra service, an update to the online store page does confirm the transition. However, players still interested in giving the game a shot while it remains on the service do still at least have time to try it out before it leaves, and it will still be available for regular purchase afterward.

According to the PlayStation Store page for Pillars of Eternity, the game will be leaving the PS Plus Extra service on December 20, 2022. This is notably the same time that PlayStation plans to remove Assassin's Creed: Valhalla from the subscription service as well. However, given that this title isn't the highest-profile game leaving in December, its removal didn't receive the same immediate attention that PlayStation's more prominently featured entries did.

This change in the PS Plus Extra service does mean that customers hoping to give Pillars of Eternity a try for the included price will need to act quickly. For fans looking forward to Obsidian Entertainment's Avowed, this is also the last chance to take a look at the universe of Pillars of Eternity on PS Plus, ahead of the upcoming title. However, it should also be noted that as is the case for any games that are taken off the PS Plus Extra service, Pillars of Eternity will still be available for purchase after December 20. Likewise, anyone who already purchased the game will still have access.

Considering that Pillars of Eternity isn't among the featured tab of games for PS Plus Extra, this likely won't be as huge of a loss as other titles leaving in December. That being said, this is a huge loss for fans of isometric RPGs, as the subgenre doesn't have a huge amount of representation across the several tiers of the PS Plus subscription service. Hopefully, PlayStation will add some more titles to fill out the roster as more games are added to PS Plus in future months.

Pillars of Eternity is available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
