PlayStation Plus Extra will soon be adding another six Assassin's Creed games to its lineup, but there is a big catch that subscribers should be aware of. Ubisoft has made an effort to make the Assassin's Creed franchise of games readily available on major gaming subscription services, to the point where nearly the entire franchise will soon be readily available to play for anyone with a PS Plus Extra subscription and a PS4 handy.

There are quite a few Assassin's Creed games already available for PS Plus Extra subscribers to play at the time of this writing, including some of the most popular games in the series. Right now, those with a PS Plus Extra subscription can already play Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flag, Assassin's Creed Freedom Cry, Assassin's Creed Origins, Assassin's Creed Rogue Remastered, Assassin's Creed The Ezio Collection, Assassin's Creed Unity, and Assassin's Creed Valhalla, with six more AC games coming to the service on Tuesday, October 18.

Come Tuesday, October 18, PS Plus Extra subscribers will be able to play even more Assassin's Creed games in the form of Assassin's Creed 3 Remastered, the three Assassin's Creed Chronicles games, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, and Assassin's Creed Syndicate. However, it should be pointed out that only those with PS Plus Extra and a PS4 will be able to play all of the games, as some of them are not going to be available on PS5 for reasons that still have yet to be made clear.

  • Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flag
  • Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China (PS4 only) - October 18
  • Assassin's Creed Chronicles: India (PS4 only) - October 18
  • Assassin's Creed Chronicles: Russia (PS4 only) - October 18
  • Assassin's Creed Freedom Cry
  • Assassin's Creed Odyssey - October 18

  • Assassin's Creed Rogue Remastered
  • Assassin's Creed Syndicate (PS4 only) - October 18
  • Assassin's Creed The Ezio Collection
  • Assassin's Creed Unity
  • Assassin's Creed Valhalla

For unexplained reasons, it's been confirmed that Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China, Assassin's Creed Chronicles: India, Assassin's Creed Chronicles: Russia, and Assassin's Creed Syndicate are only going to be playable on PS4 through PS Plus Extra, with PS5 owners being left out. The PS5 is backward compatible with PS4 games, so it's definitely a head-scratcher that some of these Assassin's Creed games will not be available to those on PS5.

While needing a PS4 to play the full suite of Assassin's Creed games on PS Plus Extra is certainly inconvenient, there should still be plenty of games in the franchise for one to play regardless if they're still on PS4 or have upgraded to PS5. There's enough content here to keep fans busy for weeks, if not months, and so PS Plus Extra subscribers that have yet to play some of these AC games have the perfect opportunity to do so.
