The PlayStation 5 is now available worldwide, and many gamers have already started to dig into the 20 great last-gen games that make up the PS Plus Collection. However, according to PlayStation’s Jim Ryan, the PS5 may not be seeing any more titles join the program — at least not anytime soon.

Though there are plenty of major PlayStation games not in the PS Plus Collection, Sony does not seem to have any more additions planned for the foreseeable future. In an interview with GQ, the PlayStation President and CEO shared that Sony is going to “wait and see how the world receives the Plus Collection.” Specifically, the company wants to see “which games are played and how much they’re played” before any decisions are made.

Ryan then went on to praise the value of the PS Plus collection as is, pointing out the many PS4 games that can be claimed via the collection already. According to Ryan, “if you never had a PS4 and you choose to but a PS5 you basically get a PS4,” an interesting way of viewing the collection. With 20 of the highest rated and bestselling PS4 games making up the PS Plus Collection, it is hard to argue against Ryan’s statement regarding the program’s value.

Though not mentioned by Ryan, the extra bonus of PS Plus Collection games becoming playable on PS4 after claiming them on a PS5 is another strong feature, improving the collection’s value for owners of both Sony consoles. With Ryan mentioning that the program is “potentially going to be a great acquisition tool,” something that will likely determine if more games are added to the PS Plus Collection. For now, though, it seems like there are no plans to expand the list of games.

While it would have been nice to see the PS Plus Collection grow even larger going forward, most fans should be satisfied with the game lineup as is. With games like God of War, Bloodborne, and The Last of Us: Remastered making up the collection, many of the best PS4 exclusives can be downloaded directly to the PS5 for PS Plus members. With gorgeous PS4 exclusive fan art for many of the games in the PS Plus Collection still releasing, the current value of the program is clear.

According to the comments made by Jim Ryan, the future of the PS Plus Collection is uncertain, and fans should not get their hopes up for more new games. Still, the door remains open, even if Sony seems more focused on the main PS Plus service going forward.
