It’s hard to come back from being turned into a genetic experiment. It’s even harder when the only family you’ve ever cared about is murdered in front of you. With vengeance and absolution on the menu, Prototype 2 is shaping up to be one of the bigger games to release next year. Putting you in the shoes of James Heller, the E3 trailer leaves little to the imagination when it comes to combat and action.

Taking a quick once-over, players are quickly brought up to speed for Prototype 2: Heller’s wife and daughter are dead at the hands of the first game's star, Alex Mercer, and Heller wants payback. His skills have been boosted to include using enemies as living implosion grenades, enhanced speed, and over-the-top melee action -- everything you need to get excited.

Elements that are missing here in the trailer include the game's big plot points: why is Alex spreading the virus and keeping tabs on Heller? Will we see the return of Elizabeth Greene? And will Heller be completely alone out of the streets, or will he find himself some unlikely allies?

Some of these questions may be answered in the coming days now that E3 is officially in full swing. With any luck, we'll learn more about Prototype 2's gameplay dynamics and design, as well. In the mean time, check out the previous Prototype 2 trailer.
