Propnight is an indie game that combines elements of Dead by Daylight and Prop Hunt into a 4-versus-1 survival horror game. Four players will attempt to hide from a fifth player, who acts as the killer.

What makes Propnight unique from most other survival horror games of the same kind is that players hiding from the killer can transform into different kinds of props in order to conceal their tracks and sometimes even confuse the killer. Due to the shockingly intricate state of the game, many players new to this game will want to know some tips in order to survive in Propnight.

10 Finish Up Propmachines – and Quick

Propmachines, when fixed, are used to open up Exit Doors, which will end the round and make the survivors win the round. Finishing propmachines are essential to the game, and the players will need to work together in order to ensure that the killer can’t stop them in their tracks or break the machines.

One strategy is to make sure that all propmachines are fixed as quickly as possible – more than one player can fix a machine, as well, so players can use that to their advantage in this survival horror title.

9 Use Smaller Props

It may seem obvious, but smaller props are actually better when it comes to hiding and dodging from a killer. Larger props tend to be more noticeable to a killer, on top of having a larger hit-box as well.

Many players have figured out that transforming into a smaller prop means a much higher chance of survival in the horror game. A killer using an AoE attack could easily hit a tire, for example, but the killer might not even notice a can of beans sitting on a table.

8 Hide In Corners

Corners are a surprisingly good way to hide. Propnight is all about outsmarting the killer, so any chance that a player can get to outrun and hide from them is a chance that must be taken.

As such, corners are a good strategy to use. It’s easy to turn a corner while chasing a killer and turn into a small prop once a player’s out of sight. When the killer rounds the corner and can’t find the player, they’ll most likely get confused and leave.

7 Use Doors on the Killer

Propnight - The killer breaking a barrel.

There are ways to temporarily hinder the killer player, and one of the main ways to do so is to slam a door on the killer’s face in this horror game. Once a killer is hit by the door, they will be stunned for a little while. This can be used for a player to buy enough time to make a quick getaway and turn into another prop.

The only drawback to this is that the killer can break the doors, meaning that a player wouldn’t be able to use them.

6 Stun the Killer to Release Survivors

The killer, once they catch a player character, will start to carry them to the Hypnochair. However, since they are physically walking to the Hypnochair, another player can easily intervene in order to free their fellow survivor.

This can be done really easily by slamming the door on the killer’s face in order to stun them. When the killer is stunned, they’ll drop the player, which will let both players be able to have a quick getaway. It can be difficult to stun the killer in time, though.

5 Keep One Person at a Propmachine at all Times

Propnight - Two people fixing a propmachine.

Usually, there are three propmachines clustered together, and then there are two propmachines much further apart. Once the propmachines at the edges are fixed, the killer will start patrolling the propmachines clustered together. Players should keep a player near a propmachine at all times ever; rotate to a different player with each propmachine.

A player should also start with the propmachines in the middle first, instead of going for the ones at the end. A killer would have a much easier job patrolling with the three close propmachines.

4 Communication is Key

Communication between survivors is one of the most important ways to guarantee the safety of all players. Communicating isn’t exactly a Propnight-unique tip (and works in other multiplayer horror games), but it’s especially a good idea in Propnight. Players will be able to set up a game plan (such as deciding who will stay at the propmachine) real easily.

Being able to set up a plan between survivors is one of the best ways to ensure that no one, for example, makes a rash decision and runs straight into danger.

3 Run in Human Form (not Prop Form)

Propnight - A killer chasing down a player.

The human form is surprisingly fast when it comes to running. When a player is not in the prop form, they could easily outrun a killer who wasn’t experiencing bloodlust. In a prop form, however, a player goes a lot slower.

An experienced player can easily outrun the killer (as long as they’re not in bloodlust), round a corner, and become a prop; something small is of course ideal. With that, a killer could walk right past the player without even seeing them.

2 Hide for Longer Than Necessary

Propnight - A killer breaking a Propmachine.

Usually, it’s a good idea to hide for a few seconds longer than a player would think necessary. Most new players are too anxious to stay in one place for too long, thinking that the killer of this horror game might blow their cover at any moment and kill them.

However, it always pays off to take an extra few seconds to be safe and make sure that the killer isn’t nearby. It’s better to stay seated and watch the killer walk past instead of rushing out into an unnecessary death.

1 Collect Coins to Get Items

Propnight - A player becoming a tire.

Items are perhaps one of the most important parts of Propnight, and can really give a player an edge over the killer. When used properly, an item can speed up propmachine fixing, temporarily blind and stop a killer in their place, make a player invincible, or even completely free a player from the Hypnochair.

All players go into a round equipped with a certain item (the item type depends on the character chosen), and more items can be found and bought with gold coins.

Propnight is available on Windows PC.
