Taylor & Hart is a company that makes customized engagement rings and jewelry, including pieces inspired by pop-culture. Recently, the company posted an article where its Design Director, Kate Earlam-Charnley, appraised the value of various pieces of jewelry from pop culture, including Super Mario Bros.' own Princess Peach's famous crown.

Companies often post articles like this to drive traffic to their websites using keywords based on popular, and heavily searched, pop culture franchises. For example, writing something like an article about what the diamond pickaxe from Minecraft would really be worth. Or a few years ago when Movoto Real Estate wrote articles about how much Hyrule Castle or Bowser's Castle might be worth.

According to Taylor & Hart, Princess Peach's crown is worth a whopping £240,000,000 or just about $336 million in United States currency. According to the article, the peach sapphire in the middle of the crown would be 175 carats, and the Paraiba tourmalines on each side would be about the same. Meaning each jewel would weigh a little over an ounce, and together make up most of the value of the crown. The metal base of the crown would only be worth £37,800, or $53 thousand.

I'm sorry, but how is the Infinity Gauntlet worth less than Princess Peach's Crown?

The company appraised the value of some other well known pieces of video game jewelry as well. For example, the diamond sword from Minecraft (which was also recently added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as part of a costume) was said to be worth £165,000 or almost $231 thousand. While the Amulet of Mara from Skyrim is worth a comparatively paltry £6000, or about $8400. In the middle is the necklace of the popular Sims character Bella Goth list at £80,000, or around $112 thousand.

This article serves a fun and lighthearted bit of trivia, and gives the reader a good idea what the Princess does with the ill gotten gains she's "acquired" during the darker parts of Peach's history. It's a fun and inoffensive way to drive traffic to Taylor & Hart's website without resorting to clickbait headlines or outrage clicks.

On the other hand, some of the appraisals do seem a little odd. Thanos' Infinity Gauntlet from the Avengers films makes a respectable 3rd place, just behind Peach's crown. The company valued the Gauntlet itself based on the rare alien metals of its construction, while the Infinity Stones value was based on their worth as gemstones. But, with the unimaginably vast magical powers it commands, the advanced alien technology it houses, and its inhumanly good craftsmanship, it seems like it should be worth significantly more than £17,490,000 ($25 million). Some might say that the Infinity Gauntlet might be worth closer to Infinity Dollars. But Kate Earlam-Charnley does appraise jewelry for a living, so she probably knows best.
