Fans excited about the January 2011 release of Visceral Games’ Dead Space 2 will be glad to hear that they won’t have to wait much longer to get back to dismembering aliens in zero gravity. This fall, Visceral Games and Sumo Digital will be releasing a prequel to the sequel, Dead Space: Ignition an “interactive comic-style game,” to be available on the PSN and XBLA platforms.
Written by Antony Johnston, the man responsible for the Dead Space comic series, this game promises to have plenty of twitch and puzzle-solving action, with a fair amount of storytelling thrown in to keep you engrossed in the grizzly world of Dead Space. According to the press release, Dead Space: Ignition “combines an interactive comic-style story with three unique hacking mini games: Hardware Crack, Trace Route and System Override.”
While there are no glimpses yet detailing what exactly these mini games entail, this is a clear departure from early speculation about a port of the Wii’s Dead Space: Extraction (which is being included in the Limited Edition version of Dead Space 2 on PS3) or the resource strategy based Planet Cracker coming to DLC systems.
Completing the comic-book style adventure will not only clue you in to story elements of the Dead Space universe, but will also garner a batch of snazzy unlockables including new outfits for Isaac in Dead Space 2.
Dead Space: Ignition is launching straight to your Playstation Network and Xbox Live Arcade this Fall.
