Predecessor is a multiplayer game that combines FPS and MOBA-style combat with sci-fi aesthetics and stellar graphics for an immersive, refined gameplay experience. Players take control of different heroes and battle it out with one another across the game's various battlefields.

Items are an important part of the gameplay in Predecessor and come in two forms; passive and active. It is also possible for players to create their own items. Players can use items to boost their attributes or stats, and passive items can also be stacked for a cumulative effect. The best active items in Predecessor can really help to tip the odds in a team or player's favor.

10 Stealth Ward

predecessor

One of Predecessor's starting items, Stealth Ward is incredibly easy to use. It's also versatile enough that it can be incorporated into a range of different strategies fairly naturally, as Stealth Ward works by revealing any Camouflaged or Visible Enemy Units within its radius.

To use Stealth Ward, players simply need to place the Ward at a location of their choosing. Stealth Ward stays in effect for a whopping 84 seconds, which is plenty of time to unveil any hiding Enemy Units or make life for any foes attempting to use stealth tactics much, much harder.

9 Health Potion

predecessor

It might sound kind of banal, but healing is a massive part of any combat-orientated game, and Predecessor is no exception. The game's healing potion item is effective and helps keep players alive for longer, which is, naturally, the aim.

Health potions are refilled upon dying or returning to base, meaning that although they'll need to be strategic in how and when they do consume potions, players don't need to ration them entirely, either. And, while there are other means of healing in Predecessor, it's hard to beat the humble healing potion for both ease of use and effectiveness.

8 Mana Potion

predecessor

Like its cousin the healing potion, Predecessor's mana potion is equally as important for just about any player regardless of build or play style. Mana is a massive part of Predecessor, with players needing it to perform various attacks, use different items, and, of course, work with their characters' magical abilities.

Many of Predecessor's best and most powerful active items also require some amount of mana to work. As a result, players need to keep as much of an eye on their mana reserves as they do their health bars.

7 Witchstalker

predecessor

One of Predecessor's Legendary Crests, Witchstalker has active and passive effects that combine to make it a highly powerful item. Its active ability is arguably its best, though.

Witchstalker's active effect is Purifying Strike, which cleanses all negative debuffs, in addition to buffing the player's next attack against an Enemy Hero. The buff works to deal an additional 4% of the Enemy Hero's base HP on top of the attack's true damage, making Witchstalker an excellent tool for players looking to beef up their damage output without drastically changing their play style.

6 Eviscerator

predecessor

Another of Predecessor's Legendary Crests, Eviscerator gives a massive +12 physical power, +20 attack speed, and +20 critical chance when used. Additionally, both its active and passive effects are very powerful.

Eviscerator's active effect is called Rending Strikes, which, when activated, gives a massive boost to players' attacking abilities. Rending Strikes grants a +10% boost to attack speed, as well as a +15% boost to damage dealt on hit for six seconds. Not only that, but the damage dealt also increases by +5% with each successive hit against Enemy Heroes.

5 Liberator

predecessor

Liberator is a powerful Legendary Crest in Predecessor and grants a generous +10 boost to Physical Power, a +5 boost to Lifesteal, a +15 boost to Attack Speed, and a +20 boost to Critical Chance. Like many of Predecessor's other Legendary Crests, Liberator boasts both active and passive effects.

Its active effect is Purifying Guard, which cleanses all Negative Debuffs and grants a 100 shield that lasts for 2.5 seconds. Purifying guard is excellent for surviving intense enemy onslaughts or giving players a breather in the midst of combat to heal without having to worry about absorbing damage from their opposition.

4 Obelisk

predecessor

Obelisk is a Legendary Crest that provides players with a massive boost to magic stats and performance more generally. In addition to granting a +35 Magical Power boost, a +100 boost to health, and a +8 Magical Penetration boost, Obelisk boasts two passive effects and the powerful Condemn active effect.

Condemn works to bolster magic damage by giving the player's next magic attack a buff of +80 magic damage. Additionally, if the target of the player's attack dies within four seconds of being hit by Condemn, the player also gains a soul.

3 Tempest

predecessor

Players on the lookout for a Legendary Crest that not only gives a boost to their damage output but also allows them to heal simultaneously should definitely consider Tempest. With its lightning-based Overcharge active effect, it unleashes a lightning storm to attack up to three Enemy Heroes near the player per second, with the effect lasting for a total of eight seconds.

Additionally, the player is healed by an amount equivalent to the level of magic damage dealt by Overcharge. Combine this with Tempest's Creep Slayer passive effect, and it's a winning combination and one of the best active items in Predecessor.

2 Typhoon

predecessor

Typhoon is a fantastic item for players looking to main a highly aggressive build with a focus on maximizing damage output and staying as active as possible. It grants a +20 magical power, +100 health, +8 magical penetration, and +15 attack speed boost.

Additionally, its Mirage active effect, which can be used when the player is at maximum stacks of Cyclone, is excellent for temporarily increasing damage output. Mirage allows the player to perform a short dash, which reduces their basic ability cooldown times by three seconds each.

1 Rift Walkers

predecessor

Rift Walkers is easily one of the most unique and versatile Legendary Crests for Predecessor players when it's utilized correctly. The item grants a +15 magical power, +150 health, +100 base health regen, and +100 mana boost.

Not only does Rift Walkers boast two excellent passive effects, but its Rift Snatcher active effect is perfect for sweeping groups of enemies efficiently and effectively. The effect requires the player to dash toward nearby Enemy Heroes, who then get pulled toward the player and, during the duration of the effect, take an extra 15% damage for three seconds.

Predecessor is out now on Microsoft Windows.
