EA’s digital distribution service, Origin, hasn’t been portrayed in the best light as of late, however, EA has created a new deal which is sure to get a few people interested in the service. Until October 19th, anyone who pre-orders Battlefield 3 from Origin will also receive Dead Space 2 for free as a digital download.

Dead Space 2 was one of the biggest titles to release early this year, garnering both critical acclaim and commercial success. We at Game Rant gave it a stunning review and this deal is sure to sway a few people still on the fence about Origin.

Battlefield 3 is one of the biggest titles to launch this year, and coupling its pre-order with Dead Space 2 is a smart move on EA’s part to add a little value to gamers who want to play the game the way it’s meant to be played (on the PC). Both games are very high profile titles, and considering EA has done well Dead Space 2, this deal will barely harm their bottom line and if anything, will get more gamers interested in Dead Space 3.

Battlefield 3 Fault Line

Of course, the only issue some may take with this deal is that the Origin client will be required. While the client may present a hassle for those already accustomed to Steam or various other digital distribution services, this deal is still remarkably amazing for anyone who has yet to play Dead Space 2.

It is also clear that EA is trying to mimic Steam with this deal as in the past, Steam offered previous games in a franchise as a pre-order bonus, such as with Red Faction: Armageddon where players could receive Red Faction: Guerrilla for free if they pre-ordered through Steam. While Origin still has a long way to go, this type of competition if very healthy for the industry, and especially the consumers.

Interested gamers should act fast though, while the offer is set to end on October 19th, EA notes that there are limited quantities available. What? It may seem odd for EA to artificially limit the amount of downloads available, but it is not a new digital strategy for them, having announced their intention to limit the amount of copies of Star Wars: The Old Republic at launch.

Battlefield 3 releases October 25th, 2011 for the PS3, Pc and Xbox 360.
