Ever since Powerpuff, The CW's live-action reboot based on the Cartoon Network animated series The Powerpuff Girls, was announced, fans have been curious to see what the girls will look like in their grown-up avatar. The CW has now unveiled the first official look at Chloe Bennet, Dove Cameron, and Yana Perrault in their respective roles of Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup.

In the images, the three crime-fighting heroes are not wearing their traditional costumes, and look more caught up on fashion trends. However, it seems like The CW adaptation will be keeping the color themes from the extremely popular animated series intact, with Bubbles dressed in blue, Blossom in pink, and Buttercup in green.

Just last week, a few behind-the-scenes Powerpuff images and videos were circulating on social media that showed the three girls donning their superhero costumes. While they may have won the hearts of Twitter users, The CW has confirmed that the uniforms will only be a part of the flashback scenes that represent the girls’ teenage years. The show will mainly be focused on the characters in their twenties as they try to leave their crime-fighting days behind, after having to spend most of their childhood doing just that. The show’s official tagline reads, “Will they agree to reunite now that the world needs them more than ever?" It seems inevitable.

Donald Faison has been brought on board to play Professor Drake Utonium, who will be seen trying to bring the girls back together to fight crime. In the original series, he ends up creating the triplets from “sugar, spice, and everything nice,” along with a mysterious ingredient called Chemical X, in his attempt to create the perfect little girl. The three are then appointed by the mayor to protect the City of Townsville and are seen fighting several villains. But, their arch-nemesis was always Mojo Jojo, and the live-action reboot will see the iconic villain’s son take over his father’s legacy, with Nicholas Podany portraying the role of Joseph “Jojo” Mondel Jr. Tom Kenny will reprise his role as narrator.

The Powerpuff Girls was originally created by Craig McCracken and ran on Cartoon Network between 1998 and 2005 and quickly became a fan favorite. A film adaptation hit the big screens in 2002 and a reboot also arrived in 2016. The story of the pint-sized Powerpuff Girls is now being adapted for television again and is being written and executive produced by Diablo Cody and Heather Regnier. It is sure to garner some attention from fans of the original series who are most likely now grown-ups themselves, with nostalgia being the key factor.

Powerpuff is currently in production by The CW.
