PowerA, a third-party accessory manufacturer, has been creating controllers for years now. Many of its products contain licensed characters from popular games. This has included a Nintendo Switch controller with illustrations based on the hit game Cuphead. Now, it appears they'll be releasing a similar controller for the Xbox Series X/S.

With first-party peripherals based on shows like The Mandalorian being as pricey as they are, PowerA has found a niche in affordability and quality. The upcoming Xbox Series X/S controller featuring Cuphead is currently available for preorder at $34.99, with a release date of July 4, 2021.

The image depicted on the controller is that of Cuphead's secondary protagonist, Mugman, running on a yellow background. Around him are multiple lined drawings of clouds, bolts of lightning, and stars, and the backside of the controller is powder blue.

While the imagery on this latest controller is similar to the one released for the Nintendo Switch, players should note that the Switch controller is wireless. The difference in pricing between the two is approximately $15, with the wireless version being more expensive. At the time of writing, a wireless option was not available for the Xbox Series X/S controller.

Cuphead was originally released in September 2017, and Cuphead reviews heralded the game for its classic cartoon aesthetic and Contra-style side-scrolling shooting. The Best Art Direction Award was given to the game at The Game Awards in 2017. This partnership with PowerA is another for the company that sports controllers based on Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Diablo 3, and many others.

Cuphead is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
