There are some series that grab the zeitgeist, hold on, and never stop. Power Rangers is one of these, going strong from the start and taking many forms over the years. With season 28 officially announced and named, it doesn't look like the world will be without Power Rangers any time soon.

Long time fans of the Power Rangers extended universe got a long-time wish granted last year in the form of Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid, a cross-universe Power Rangers fighting game. Battle for the Grid features Marvel Vs. Capcom style 3v3 stylish combat with a distinct visual style, and has a roster that includes Rangers, monsters, and other friends/foes of the Rangers from multiple series. The main story centers around a battle against an evil version of the original Green Ranger.

When it comes to expanding the roster, Battle for the Grid has no shortage of characters to draw on. Even Chun-Li recently became a Power Ranger in a seperate game, opening the door to crossovers similar to what Mortal Kombat now does on the regular. The next three fighters for Season 3 of Battle for the Grid have just been announced by trailer. The new DLC fighters are: Robert "RJ" James, the Jungle Fury Wolf Ranger, Lauren Shiba, the second Super Samurai Red Ranger, and a mystery villain.

Despite no official reveal, the identity of the shadowy third figure in the trailer has been guessed by fans. Judging by the silhouette and laugh, most guess she is Scorpina, a villain from the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. She was known to fight alongside Goldar, another Mighty Morphin monster, and was very powerful in her own right. How these three will affect the official Battle for the Grid eSport league has yet to be determined, and there is no gameplay to base speculation on at this time.

Hopefully gameplay for the new characters will be coming soon. Since many Rangers can use Megazord special attacks as part of their moveset, it will be interesting to see if Scorpina can utilize her giant scorpion form. Fans will find out sooner rather than later.

Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid is available for PC, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version also in development.
