When it comes to horror games, Silent Hill is one that is fondly remembered, largely due to its creepy story and unsettling environments. With Silent Hill being considered one of the greatest horror games of the 90s, it is a powerhouse of disturbing terror that is continuing to inspire developers to this day. Now, a new game called Post Trauma is currently in development, which is taking heavy inspiration from the classic survival series.

Posting to Twitter recently, the developer says they actually quit their job so they could work on the game, and have said that a demo of Post Trauma will be coming soon. Specifically, the tweet mentioned that this indie horror game is being inspired by Silent Hill 4 which was re-released by GOG last year and gave players the chance to own a digital copy of one of the franchise's most underrated entries.

Not much is known about the game yet, but some screenshots have been posted with the tweet. The images show a series of creepy stills, a couple of which depict a forlorn looking person on an abandoned subway train, a ghoulish red being with two heads, and someone standing opposite some horrific beast that looks as though it's about to attack. It seems as though while Post Trauma is a new game with modern visuals, it may be taking some cues which could hearken back to classic survival horror tropes from a bygone era.

The developer also says that, much like Silent Hill 4, this game will be in third-person, but with some first-person horror thrown into the mix. First-person has become the de facto perspective for a lot of new horror games, whereas originally it was third-person views that were king. Now, games like Outlast, Alien Isolation, and the new iterations of Resident Evil show that fixed camera angles are perhaps a relic of the past, but games like Post Trauma seem to want to bring it back into vogue.

Despite not knowing much about the game, these stills alone make it seem like it has the potential to be a truly terrifying game. The video game world is currently experiencing a golden era of horror, with some games like Song of Horror taking cues from classic titles. Perhaps Post Trauma is also looking to do something similar. Either way, there is definitely no harm in being inspired by one of the genre's most notorious series of games. It's a testament to its influence that Silent Hill is still something that modern horror games are looking to for inspiration even in this day and age.

Post Trauma is currently in development with a demo coming soon.
