Let's get straight to the point: Portal 2 has been confirmed! GameInformer has an exclusive 12 page preview of the game coming with their April issue. Oh how I wish I still had a GameInformer subscription. All the information we have for now is two tantalizing magazine covers, but that's all they needed to show in order to stir up some excitement.

GameInformer has also put up a Portal 2 hub site, which will update regularly with new bits of awesome over the rest of March. These guys really know how to drive us crazy. Meanwhile there's still the viral Portal 2 ARG still going on, and I'm still recovering from the change to Portal's ending.

Make sure to check out the official introduction from GameInformer, and bookmark the hub so you can keep yourself updated. Not that we won't be posting every little detail here as well.

This more than makes up for the not so great SOCOM 4 announcement yesterday, right Ranters? Just how excited are you for Portal 2?

[UPDATE] Valve posted a news item on Steam confirming  Portal 2 for release this holiday season. Also, what is this!?

[UPDATE 2] If you check out the Steam news announcement, there's a number of underlined letters. Put together, these letters form a log-in which internet sleuths have used to uncover this very exciting image. Can you say cooperative play? Then again, this could just be an image signifying the completion of the ARG.

[UPDATE 3] Cooperative mode confirmed! Via Gamestop's PC listing of Portal 2:

Features single and multiplayer co-op modes. The single-player portion of Portal 2 introduces a cast of dynamic new characters, a host of fresh puzzle elements, and a much larger set of devious test chambers. Players will explore never-before-seen areas of the Aperture Science Labs and be reunited with GLaDOS, the occasionally murderous computer companion who guided them through the original game. The game’s two-player cooperative mode features its own entirely separate campaign with a unique story, test chambers, and two new player characters. This new mode forces players to reconsider everything they thought they knew about portals. Success will require them to not just act cooperatively, but to think cooperatively.

Oh my, it's going to be so much fun throwing portals at your partner's feet! How can this get any better!?
