Pop Team Epic season 2 will be adding to the incredibly stacked Fall 2022 anime season, with the first episode of the upcoming series dropping on October 1 at 25:30 JST.The series' surprise return was announced earlier in July this year, with a set of key visuals bringing the wacky duo of Popuko and Pipimi back into focus after their takeover of the scene back in 2018.The returning comedy series, based on the manga of the same name created by Bkub Okawa, will be produced by Kamikaze Doga and Space Neko Company. The chaotic and absurd anime series will see the return of first season chief-director and writer Jun Aoki, who is also responsible for the direction of yet another gag anime series, Gal and Dino.The original manga is a 4-koma series, and perhaps one of the closest examples of the conversion of 4-koma manga into hilarious sketch comedy anime series. With its surrealist tones and wacky hijinks, a surprise return for Pop Team Epic is simply part of the show's characteristic, weird and chaotic charm.
