Music is one of gaming's most important facets. After all, a game is judged by how immersive its atmosphere is, and music plays a critical role in ensuring that. For the most part, modern releases have understood how music and games go hand-in-hand and have been delivering stellar soundtracks more often than not.

However, its soundtrack deserves credit for being absolutely spectacular. The battle theme is a thing of beauty, and the other musical pieces excel at their job. They elevate Final Fantasy 13 when the gameplay or story might falter.

9 Fallout 4

Fallout 4 Power Armor VS Deathclaw

The Fallout series is one of the most distinguished and beloved RPG franchises of all time, but the franchise has definitely housed its fair share of underwhelming entries. Fallout 4 was disappointing for a number of long-time fans since it diminished the RPG elements of the previous entries.

It's generally considered to be one of the weaker single-player entries in the series, but Fallout 4 still boasts a great soundtrack. Getting immersed into the world with the music or just turning on the radio has varying yet equally delightful effects on the atmosphere of a game.

8 Sonic The Hedgehog (2006)

Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 - sonic and a woman looking at one another

Most 3D Sonic games could possibly be a candidate for this list. Sonic and 3D have not had the best relationship, with most games being mediocre at best and horrendous at worst.

Sonic '06 is easily the most notable candidate in this regard. The title is notorious for being one of the worst games ever made, with the soundtrack being its only saving grace. The music is so fantastic, it is worth ignoring the game and just acquiring Sonic '06's soundtrack.

7 Nier

Nier Gestalt

Nier is a franchise that has gone through several transformations over the course of the past few years. Nier Automata is important in this regard, with its success bringing more fans towards the glorious ideas of Yoko Taro.

However, the first game in this Drakengard spinoff was pretty underwhelming, mainly as the combat left quite a lot to be desired. However, its soundtrack was still quite melodic and fit the tone whenever it was appropriate.

6 Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 trailer still

To this day, Cyberpunk 2077 is still a huge topic of controversy that most people find hard to digest. The game struggled to live up to what was advertised, with the title launching in a poor state on the PS4 and Xbox One.

Cyberpunk 2077 has gotten its act together over the course of a year, developing into a pretty good RPG, even if it might not reach the heights set by CD Projekt Red's previous game, The Witcher 3. There's still a ton of love present in Cyberpunk 2077, with the music being absolutely brilliant in this regard.

5 Mafia 3

Mafia III

Mafia 3 was a game with a ton of potential, but it was ultimately squandered as a result of its open-world design and repetitive gameplay. It's a shame that the game is so hard to play at times since the story is absolutely brilliant.

Mafia 3's soundtrack is another point where the game excels. Although the open-world doesn't offer players much to do, Mafia 3 does a fantastic job recreating its historical setting, and the music helps immerse players fully in the 1960s.

4 Final Fantasy 7 Remake

Final Fantasy 7 Remake presents a new and glorious way to experience the magic of the original. While newcomers to the series might love the game, long-time fans might have a few gripes when it comes to the liberties this remake takes in telling the original's story.

FF7 Remake still excels on many fronts, with its music being absolutely spectacular. The epic nature of the game's soundtrack is one of the many reasons why some fans love this game.

Since this was a Fallout game, the soundtrack was the one thing that couldn't be messed up. While the rest of the game left a lot to be desired, Inon Zur's ambient soundtrack and songs are all great.

2 Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony

Danganronpa v3 Killing Harmony Mobile Release

The Dangaronpa trilogy is absolutely excellent when it comes to telling compelling murder mysteries. However, the story of the third game took a turn for the bizarre with the final twist.

It has essentially set the franchise towards a meaningless route, meaning that there's no way to continue from this point without it being absolutely trivial. It seems that the developers have also let the franchise be, with their intention now to work on a brand new title. Masafumi Takada's soundtrack, which consists of more than 50 tracks, is on-point throughout, adding personality and atmosphere to the visual novel.

1 The Sims 4

There was a time when The Sims 3 had pretty much wowed everyone with its amazing scope and advanced gameplay. The Sims 4 has experienced a more divisive lifespan, although it has improved quite a bit since its launch.

The music of Sims 4 is excellent, offering a wide selection of tracks to suit a lot of different aspects of the experience. While the game might not meet everyone's expectations, the soundtrack is impressive.
