Pokemon GO players around the world can currently only gain PokeCoins in one or two ways: Buying them from the Shop or earning them by defending Gyms for extended period of time. That is going to change in the near future, once the new PokeCoin system that is being tested in Australia gains a public release.

The new system allows players to also earn PokeCoins through other daily tasks and activities, aside from Gym defense. This is great news for a lot of players, but Niantic is still toying around with the balance and trying to find the right mix that encourages frequent gameplay and still feels like a worthwhile reward. The latest update to the Pokemon GO PokeCoin test in Australia made some big updates that increases the amount of PokeCoins earned by completing Tasks from the Today View.

From a look at the new numbers, it seems like players will pretty easily be able to earn 20 Coins per day by completing the Today View tasks and then may need to branch out to Gym defense if they want to get maximum value and pick up all 50.
