An artist has created even more fan depictions mashing up the worlds of Pokemon and X-Men. The artist shared a handful of Pokemon/X-Men crossovers on Reddit recently and is apparently following up due to the post's success.

Pokemon and X-Men aren't so different in many ways. Both franchises involve massive and ever-expanding casts of characters with strange and amazing powers. There's obviously a wide tonal shift between the two — there hasn't ever been a storyline about racism or hate crimes in the Pokemon anime — but the powers of each world fit fairly nicely together. This concept is further exemplified by the recent slew of new crossover artwork bringing the franchises together in an uncanny manner.

The Reddit post was made by user Selfishly_Efficient and is currently one of the top-trending on the Pokemon subreddit. The user's original post depicted four different Pokemon/X-Men hybrids from Professor X and Psyduck to Gambit and Greninja. This newest post gives five times the artwork with 20 different crossovers ranging from all different generations of both Pokemon and X-Men teams, and many of the X-Men get their style from the recently revived classic 90s cartoon series.

There are some pretty surprising combinations in the mix, like the metal whips of Omega Red combining with the tentacles of Tentacruel to make Omega Cruel. There's also the comical combination of Mr. Mime and Mister Sinister, with the chosen hybrid name being Mr. Mister. Deadpool 2 fan-favorite Cable and multiple members of his complicated X-Men family tree also make appearances crossing over with Pokemon like Raichu, Geodude, and Mew. It seems like the artist is intent on creating even more of these collaborations in the future, so hopefully some newer X-Men characters like Anole or Synch will eventually be incorporated.

The X-Men are in a strange position in terms of cultural relevancy at the moment. The mutant team certainly isn't the powerhouse of Marvel's catalog like they once were, with The Avengers and many other Marvel Cinematic Universe characters naturally taking the lead at the moment. There are apparently plans to bring the team into the MCU, but it doesn't seem like that's coming any time soon. There is also Insomniac's Wolverine game, which currently has no gameplay footage, but will hopefully include some appearances from Logan's teammates. In the meantime, things like Selfishly_Efficient's Pokemon/X-Men artwork will keep the fans entertained while the superhero team is suspended in Magik's Limbo.
