With each new generation of Pokemon games comes a new batch of starters for players to train. These new generations typically include starters from the Water, Fire, and Grass types. Recently, one fan of the Pokemon series decided to make artwork showcasing their love for the various starter Pokemon seen in the series.
Taking to Reddit, a user known as mono_luca shared a picture of a recent Pokemon drawing they had made. While there are numerous pieces of fan art featuring Grass-type Pokemon, this picture created by mono_luca stood out because they had decided to draw not one or two but all nine of the Grass-type starters. Impressively, the artist was able to perfectly capture the look of each starter seen over the generations of Pokemon games.
In the drawing, all the familiar faces from the Grass-type starter lineup were present. From Rowlet, Turtwig, Bulbasaur, and Grookey to Chikorita, Treecko, Snivy, and Chespin, the gang was all there lazily napping. Furthermore, mono-luca even included Sprigatito, the upcoming starter for the Gen 9 games Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. The artist then colored the background a cool shade of blue to compliment the green colors of the sleepy Pokemon.
Over the past couple of days, numerous members of the Pokemon community have taken notice of this impressive artwork featuring the Grass-type starter Pokemon. Since posting this drawing to Reddit, it has received over 5,400 upvotes from fans. Unsurprisingly, many commented on their favorite Pokemon in the picture. In addition, some joked that Rowlet seemed like the odd starter out of the bunch due to its coloration. “I like how they are all green… and then there’s Rowlet,” Tenten32321 said on Reddit.
Impressively, this is not the only Pokemon artwork that mono_luca has made recently. In the days since uploading this picture of the sleepy Grass-type starters to Reddit, they have taken the positive feedback from fans and used that as inspiration to make additional pictures featuring Water and Fire-type starters. Each of these pictures has the same adorable style as the Grass-type drawing and features the Pokemon resting. In addition, both posts managed to garner thousands of upvotes similar to the Grass-type drawing.
It is understandable that many fans would be excited about this recent Pokemon artwork from mono_luca. In addition to the charming designs of the Pokemon, many gamers are anxiously awaiting the release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the latest installment in the series that launches on November 18, 2022. Fans recently received another trailer for the game that gave a glimpse at a few more Pokemon coming to the series, such as Smoliv. Time will tell if mono-luca chooses to make even more fan art in the future, and whether they decide to base on Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
