Most of the battles in Pokemon Unite will be between two or more player controlled Pokemon, but there are several wild Pokemon found in Remoat Arena as well. Players will come across weaker ones as they move around the map, and junglers might take the time to defeat Bouffilant and Ludicolo for jungle buffs, but three powerful wild Pokemon stand out above the rest. Rotom and Drednaw are about as strong as each other, and each provide a powerful team-wide buff when captured, but the most powerful wild Pokemon in standard Unite Battles is easily Zapdos. Players wondering what Zapdos does and how to beat it need look no further.

Zapdos is one of the few legendary Pokemon in Pokemon Unite, and it lives up to that title. Defeating this Pokemon solo will be nearly impossible, so it's up to the whole team to work together. Thankfully, the reward for managing to take Zapdos down is usually well worth the cost of leaving the player's goals unprotected.

Zapdos can be found in the center of the map in the area known as the Legendary Pit. It will only spawn after 8 minutes of game time has passed (timer on the top of the screen will read 2:00), and it also provides team-wide benefits to the team of whichever Pokemon deals the final blow. To reiterate, only the final blow on Zapdos matters, regardless of how much damage each team has dealt. As previously mentioned, this fight is very difficult even at high level, so players should always take on this Pokemon with some friends at their side.

Regarding how to beat Zapdos, the best method is to keep moving. Zapdos has three attacks that players should try to avoid. The first is a simple line attack, but it comes out quickly. The only way players will be able to avoid it is if they were already strafing around Zapdos. Next, Zapdos will begin charging a blue bar underneath it. When this happens, run away as it is about to perform a powerful AoE. If Zapdos flies into the sky, the AoE will be the smaller version, but if it stays grounded, the AoE will cover the entire Legendary Pit. Beyond this, just keep hitting it with powerful attacks.

Defeating Zapdos rewards the player that got the last hit with 30 Aeos Energy and every other player on the team with 20, for a grand total of 110 points. Additionally, all of the enemy's goals will be left defenseless, meaning players can score on them instantly without having to charge up. Finally, right after Zapdos is defeated, a bolt of lightning will strike all Pokemon on the enemy's team, dealing heavy damage and stunning them briefly.

Pokemon Unite is available now on Switch and later on Mobile.
