Pokemon Unite is a MOBA based on the idea of Pokemon scoring goals against an enemy team in a sport-like game stadium. Players can battle it out and rack up KOs, but victory in Pokemon Unite is ultimately determined by which team scored the most points in the opposing goals. The scoreboards during a match and afterward don't exactly make it clear where a team stands, though. This guide will explain exactly how the scoreboard works in Pokemon Unite.

Players can level up against wild Pokemon and battle the opponent to their heart's content, but they will inevitably lose if they let the other team score more than they do. The only way to ensure that the opponent doesn't accumulate a high score is by learning how to block a goal. It's hard to determine the current score during a match using the scoreboard alone, so the safest bet is to always make sure a solid defense is in place.

Understanding The Scoreboard During A Match

Players can check the scoreboard at any time during gameplay. This is done with the Plus button on the Nintendo Switch version of the game. This board will show each player's Pokemon, current level, Battle Item, Hold Items, and the number of KOs and Assists they achieved so far in the match.

The in-game scoreboard does not show the team's current score. The only points it displays are the number of KOs and Assists. Players can get an idea of how many points have been scored by checking how many points have been depleted from each goal, though this method becomes unreliable when Zapdos appears in Pokemon Unite and allows for scores that easily exceed goal maximums. Otherwise, each team's score total is hidden until the match comes to an end.

Understanding The Scoreboard After A Match

The post-game scoreboard displays each team's point total, along with a personal score for each player. A trainer's personal score is determined by the number of points they scored on the opposing goals and the amount of KOs and Assists they earned. While KOs and Assists do not contribute to the team's overall score, they do play a part in determining each team's MVP and who earns Medals in Pokemon Unite.

The scoreboards are not the only things that are poorly explained in Pokemon Unite. Many basic features are glossed over. Even important stat attributes like Special Attack in Pokemon Unite are completely obscured, leaving veteran players with the task of figuring out the gameplay mechanics.

Despite such common complaints, Pokemon Unite has enjoyed massive popularity. Fans will surely continue to devote their time and effort to mastering the MOBA as new features and characters are added in the future.
