The sports-themed Pokemon MOBA Pokemon Unite has just come out, and fans are rushing to unlock their favorite Pokemon and take them to the field. The game features several ways for players to customize their experience, from designing their trainer, to choosing Pokemon to fit their playstyle, to making their Pokemon look stylish.
Like many free-to-play titles, Pokemon Unite has multiple in-game currencies, with plenty of characters and items to unlock. But this can make it difficult for new players to find exactly what they want. For example, how do they find Holowear?
What Holowear Is
Holowear are cosmetic skins for Pokemon, dressing them up in various outfits. Some of the Holowear currently available include Pikachu's hoodie, Cinderace's pirate outfit, and Garchomp's scuba gear.
Unlike Pokemon Unite's held items, holowear does not directly improve a Pokemon's stats or performance. They are only cosmetic.
Players shouldn't worry about wasting their currency on things that won't give them a competitive edge, however. Unlike Pokemon and items, holowear cannot be directly bought with the free aeos coins or the paid gems. They can only be acquired with holowear tickets.
How to Find Holowear Tickets
There are two places where a player can find holowear tickets: in the energy reward machine and in the battle pass.
The energy exchange machine, unlocked at level 5, is Pokemon Unite's version of a loot box system. Players earn aeos energy after each match, and can trade 100 energy for a random reward.
This system has some important limits in place. First, a player can only collect 1400 aeos energy a week. That number can be expanded with energy booster tanks, but those can only be bought with real money. Even if a player goes all out with spending real money for energy rewards, they're still limited to 30 pulls a day. Overall, this method is unreliable.
There is a more consistent way to get holowear tickets, although it may still require spending money. Holowear tickets are one of the rewards found in Pokemon Unite's battle pass. Players can complete daily, weekly, and season missions to increase their battle pass level and gain rewards, with more rewards available using the paid premium battle pass.
Unlike the energy exchange machine, the battle pass is clear on when a player will get certain rewards. The downside is that it may take longer to get certain items, like holowear tickets since there's no chance of a lucky break.
What Each Ticket is Worth
Once a player has holowear tickets, they can trade them in at Zirco's Trading Store. Each outfit costs 18 holowear tickets, so players should think carefully before purchasing.
Pokemon Unite is available now for Nintendo Switch and is in the works for Mobile.
