Pokemon Unite fans are in for a treat, as the next new Pokemon has been not only confirmed, but also given a release date. What's more, that release date happens to be tomorrow. Gardevoir, the Psychic Attacker type Pokemon, will be joining the roster on Wednesday, July 28th. This is just one week after the release of the game, setting expectations high for the future of its post-launch support. Although players knew Gardevoir would be coming to the game at some point, the announcement reveals a lot of new information about the Pokemon and is surprising in more ways than one.

At present, Pokemon Unite has just 20 playable Pokemon, and the addition of Gardevoir will bump that up to 21. There is already at least one more Pokemon confirmed to be added to the game in the near future, the Gen 1 Water type Pokemon Blastoise, but there's no word on when that will happen. Given how quickly Gardevoir came, it could be as soon as next week, but this is just speculation.

As previously mentioned, Gardevoir is another Attacker type Pokemon, meaning she will excel at dealing heavy damage to enemies in a short amount of time. From the short gameplay trailer shown of her, it seems as though her attacks also provide her with a shield and stun enemies. Given that she primarily fights with psychic powers, she is a ranged attacker, so players will be able to keep their distance while still putting on the hurt. As great as this is, there's still a lot players don't know about Gardevoir.

For starters, the trailer only shows Gardevoir, and doesn't mention anything about Ralts or Kirlia, its two evolutions. While most Pokemon in the game that have an evolution path must go through it, there are several that start fully evolved. This applies to Snorlax, Pikachu, Lucario, and many other Pokemon that can't evolve in Pokemon: Unite as well. It's also unclear how exactly players will obtain Gardevoir. It's possible that she'll be added to the Unite Battle Committee shop just like all the other characters, but she could also be a reward from a special event or something.

Thankfully, players don't have long to wait, as Gardevoir will be available tomorrow. The biggest question that remains now is when Blastoise will be added into the game. Pokemon Unite featured both Charizard and Venusaur at launch, representing two of the three starter Pokemon from generation 1, but no Blastoise yet even though Squirtle can be fought during the tutorial matches.

Pokemon Unite is available now on Switch and releases for Mobile in September 2021.
