While playing a standard battle in Pokemon Unite, players will inevitably come into contact with wild Pokemon. Most of these are weaker Pokemon that exist solely to provide Aeos Energy for the player once they are captured, but there are a few wild Pokemon scattered throughout Remoat Stadium that provide more than just points to score with. One such example is Drednaw, a powerful wild Pokemon found in the bottom-most area of the map, but his spawning conditions and the reward for defeating him might be unclear to players at first.

Drednaw is one of three major wild Pokemon on Remoat Stadium, with the other two being Rotom and Zapdos. While both of those Pokemon help to leave the opponents' goal defenseless and gives the team that defeats them a large amount of Aeos Energy, Drednaw is a bit different. Even if it doesn't make scoring easier, defeating Drednaw can turn the tide of a battle in Pokemon Unite.

Just like Pokemon Unite's Rotom, Drednaw doesn't spawn until three minutes have passed in game (timer at the top of the screen reads 7:00). After this point, head to the bottom of the map with a few trusted teammates and players will find Drednaw there. He isn't terribly difficult, but his attacks can hit in a wide area and cause stun. It's best to take him on in groups of at least two for this reason. It's also possible that players will run into the enemy team, giving yet another reason why this fight shouldn't be attempted alone. After defeating Drednaw, players will get a shield buff for their team and a nice chunk of Aeos Energy.

Pokemon Unite how to defeat Drednaw and what it does

Defeating Drednaw grants the entire team a shield worth about 15-20% of their maximum health. This will block all incoming damage from any source until the shield is completely depleted, making it great just before an offensive on the enemy or even a legendary Pokemon like Zapdos. It's important to note that the player that lands the final hit on Drednaw captures it for their team, so it doesn't matter how much damage each team has dealt. This makes it possible to snipe the buff from an enemy team but also means players that aren't careful could do all the work and lose it at the last minute.

While Drednaw's buff is useful, it is definitely the least helpful of the three. If given the choice, players should definitely focus on either Rotom or Zapdos instead, as these can completely mix up a battle. Still, if players can manage to take out a Drednaw, the rest of their team will surely thank them. Hopefully this knowledge helps players win more Unite Battles in Pokemon Unite.

Pokemon Unite is available now on Switch and later on Mobile.
