The Pokemon Company introduced Pokemon Unite back in June 2020 to a campaign of 150,000 dislikes on its official YouTube trailer reveal. At first glance, fans of the Pokemon franchise didn't appear too thrilled with a Pokemon Unite game that featured a League of Legends style, drifting away from its classic RPG tradition. What a difference two years can make, as Pokemon Unite is not only one of the biggest games on the market today, but it continues to grow its player base by the month. In less than two years since its announcement, Pokemon Unite has reached over 70 million downloads, and that number is sure to grow as the game reaches its second year.RELATED: Pokemon Unite Leak Reveals New Pokemon and ModesProduced by Masaaki Hoshino and developed by TiMi Studio Group, the team has worked hand-in-hand with The Pokemon Company to deliver constant updates to Pokemon Unite to give it a fresh feel. With new modes rolling out and the introduction of popular Pokemon such as Espeon, the game is constantly evolving and bringing new life to the popular multiplayer online battle arena game. Announced on May 29, the Grass/Ghost Pokemon Decidueye is getting another skin for players to obtain through a special event or purchase with real money. Upon releasing the announcement, many of its player base started drawing comparisons between the lovable Owl Pokemon and a certain anime character.

Dawning a hood and a bandana, players immediately pointed out how much inspiration the Ninja Style skin took from Naruto, the beloved blonde-haired child who aspired to be the next Hokage. Starting off as a Rowlett, the base-form Pokemon of the line, it dawns a simple blue bandana with a metal plate in the center. Once it evolves into a Dartrix, it gains a blue cape with red trimming while keeping its bandana firmly strapped to its head. Once it reaches its final evolution, Decidueye, it harnesses a complete ninja-like gi, including a hood to cover its head. Since Decidueye's introduction into Pokemon Unite, it has quickly become a fan favorite, and the new skin will be sure to keep its fans happy.

Pokemon Unite made headlines earlier this month when it made several reveals to both its roster and game updates to change the core. After adding Azumarill, the gentle Water/Fairy Pokemon, a new paid subscription was introduced to Pokemon Unite. While the game itself remains free-to-play, players can make a monthly purchase of $8.99 USD to obtain several rewards, including daily Aeos gems. Despite the concern for the game becoming too pay-to-win, developer TiMi Studio Group has ensured its player base that it will still give free-to-play players equal opportunity to remain competitive through daily login bonuses and weekly missions.

Pokemon Unite is available now for Nintendo Switch and mobile devices.
