Pokemon Unite fans may have been chanting Blastoise on message boards all month, but the latest announcement from the game took a surprising turn and confirmed Blissey as the next addition to the game's battle roster instead. The Gen 2 Normal-type is going to be arriving in the MOBA soon and will offer an exciting new option when it comes to players looking to field the Support role for their team.

There are eight full generations of Pokemon to draw from over time and currently the game only has about twenty playable characters on the roster. That means that there will likely be a lot of additions if the Pokemon Unite has some staying power and there should still be plenty of time for Blastoise in the near future (fingers crossed!). For now, players may want to focus their attention on Blissey and its release date, move set, and strategies.

As mentioned earlier, Blissey is a Support Pokemon that will be able to help out allies as they get themselves into trouble on the map. It will take more than 30 seconds of gameplay footage to get a better idea of how Blissey will actually play in an average game though. Luckily, players who want to get their hands on Blissey and start strategizing aren't going to have to wait for very much longer at all...

When Is Blissey Available In Pokemon Unite?

The update that will add Blissey is set to arrive on August 18, 2021

The rate at which Pokemon Unite continues to add new playable characters to the roster will be very interesting to follow. Obviously new characters will help build hype each time they arrive, but it also creates a major shift in the competitive meta game and could lead to constant rebalancing. This isn't really new to MOBAs, but considering the amount of Pokemon that exist in the Pokedex, it is very interesting to speculate about what the game could look like as more and more of those options arrive in Pokemon Unite. For now players can just take things one release at a time and focus on mastering the characters that are already in the game and Blissey once once it arrives tomorrow.

Be sure to check back in the coming days for more Pokemon Unite news, updates and strategy guides. Once Blissey is live Game Rant will provide a full guide on the best builds and strategies for running with the new addition.

Pokemon Unite is available now on Switch and will be coming to mobile in the future.
