Fans of Pokemon and MOBAs alike have given Pokemon Unite a try, and many have been pleased with the game overall. As with any MOBA-style game, Pokemon Unite will continue to release new characters into the game to increase the size of its roster. Since the game's launch, players have seen the additions of the Pokemon Zeraora and Gardevoir. Most recently, Blissey was added to Pokemon Unite as a new Supporter Pokemon. The developers have finally confirmed another upcoming Pokemon will join the game soon, and it's definitely a fan-favorite.

As one of the three original starter Pokemon evolutions from the Kanto region, the addition of Blastoise into Pokemon Unite has been highly anticipated since its confirmation. Especially as the Grass-type Venusaur and Fire-type Charizard have been in the game since launch, the inclusion of the Water-type starter line will complete the popular trio.

Via Twitter, Pokemon Unite posted a curt announcement that Blastoise would be joining the roster on September 1. After Nintendo had revealed Sylveon and Mamoswine as new Pokemon coming to Pokemon Unite, many fans were worried that Blastoise would get left to the wayside, especially after the surprise release of Blissey. Thankfully, fans can now rest assured that won't be the case. The announcement also contained a teaser that showed off various moves for Blastoise, and many line up with what players experienced when Blastoise was playable in the beta period.

Blastoise will be the first new Defender added to the game, joining other Defender Pokemon like Crustle, Slowbro, and Snorlax. Altogether, Blastoise's moves make it a crowd-control machine. Hydro Pump knocks back enemy Pokemon, Water Spout seems to create a slowing field, and Surf provides a knock-back and a stun. Its Unite Move is likely Hydro Typhoon, which provides a shield to Blastoise while it spins around, firing water from the cannons on its back. In the teaser, Blastoise can be seen using this move to mercilessly shut down its two fellow Kanto starters, Venusaur and Charizard.

Depending on its stats, Blastoise could become a must-pick Defender similar to Snorlax. Weirdly enough, Blastoise is yet another Water-type Pokemon in the game with the move Surf. Even though each Pokemon's use of Surf is different, it could end up being confusing at times. Hopefully, TiMi Studios won't feel the need to include the move Surf on every Water-type Pokemon it adds to the game. In any case, there are plenty of tips and tricks to get better at Pokemon Unite, and players can expect to see even more when Blastoise is finally released.

Pokemon Unite is available now on Nintendo Switch, and will launch for mobile devices on September 22.
