Longevity in battle is crucial, as getting knocked out at the beginning of every confrontation will not only cause one's side to suffer but is also the least fun way to play Pokemon Unite. MOBA games, while intended to be easy to pick up and play, can be difficult to master, especially when they are based on decades of lore and franchise history.

Pokemon Unite players needing more reliability on the builds of certain pokemon should get familiar with the Recovery moves found in the game, as, as their moniker implies, they allow players to save HP as well as sometimes boost their defenses in some way.

Recovery move usage is most important for Defender and Support pokemon, with some exceptions, so players favoring these roles should try out builds featuring them. Only potential final Recovery moves will be mentioned below, as those that must be replaced aren't quite are crucial to most builds in the long run of a battle.

Slowbro's Amnesia

In-Game Description Of Slowbro's Amnesia

"Allows the user to nullify some damage before it takes effect. For a short time after using this move, the user becomes immune to hindrances and gains increased Defense. This move also increases the damage dealt by the next use of Scald or Surf."

Analysis Of Slowbro's Amnesia

Immediately, most players will notice that this move doesn't actually recover HP, which is unlike other Recovery moves. Instead, Amnesia preemptively nullifies damage, which equates to the same thing as recovering HP: players keeping more of it. However, this preventative measure in guarding precious HP has an intimidation aspect, as when opponents see their attacks are doing little to no damage, they may reconsider their assault and retreat.

The immunity to hindrances is sure to throw a wrench into the plans of trickier enemies, allowing Slowbro to negate or escape many effects without even needing to think about it. The boost to physical Defense is incredibly handy since Slowbro players will more often than naught find themselves acting as their team's tank in many confrontations.

Regardless of which build players pursue with Slowbro, Amnesia can be useful for any of them, as it increases the damage of both Scald and Surf, meaning that players can use Amnesia both defensive and offensively; truly one of the best Recovery moves.

Venusaur's Giga Drain

In-Game Description Of Venusaur's Giga Drain

"Drains HP from opposing Pokemon in the area of effect, dealing damage to them and restoring the user's HP when it hits. Also reduces the damage the user receives for a short time."

Analysis Of Venusaur's Giga Drain

Despite being a Recovery move, Giga Drain is most definitely an attack as it hurts foes while healing Venusaur, albeit not well. While, in theory, its effects make Giga Drain sound phenomenal, the damage dealt by this move is rather lackluster compared with Venusaur's other options. This, in turn, means that the healing received from the damage portion of Giga Drain is also often middling unless players manage to hit multiple foes at once.

The damage reduction following the usage of Giga Drain is also barely noticeable, being nowhere close to the true damage reduction of moves like Slowbro's Amnesia.

For these reasons, Venusaur's Giga Drain is arguably the weakest out of all the Recovery moves, and since Venusaur falls into the Attacker role, players would be better off using the alternative move for this slot, Sludge Bomb, as it is far more offensively powerful.

Blissey's Soft-Boiled

pokemon unite blissey using soft-boiled

In-Game Description Of Blissey's Soft-Boiled

"Throws an egg to an ally Pokemon, restoring its HP as well as the user's. A maximum of three uses can be kept in reserve for this move."

Analysis Of Blissey's Soft-Boiled

Simple in concept as well as in application, Soft-Boiled is surprisingly the only true (final) Recovery move to be possessed by a Support-role pokemon. Granting healing to both an ally nearby and the user makes Soft-Boiled incredibly efficient at keeping a team in top fighting condition, however, there are some limitations that prevent this move from being spammed and becoming overpowered.

Players can store up to three charges for Soft-Boiled, limiting its usage, though these charges replenish by themselves every 2 seconds, which doesn't hinder Blissey from using these nourishing eggs enough to be annoying or inconvenient.

Used in combination with Blissey's other traits, players selecting this pokemon for battle will be a great asset to their team if they back up their allies appropriately. Soft-Boiled is a fast and efficient healing maneuver that doesn't really have any negative aspects, and, as such, it is definitely one of the best Recovery moves in the game.
