Pokemon: These Are The Gen 8 Starters

After months of waiting, the first official trailer for Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield has finally arrived and Nintendo fans are busy digesting their first big serving of information about the eighth generation of Pokemon. The franchise is bringing a main series adventure to Switch and, as expected, there are some adorable new starters here to share the adventure with.

Pokemon Shield and Sword are keeping the starter tradition alive and well with three new adorable little critters. Obviously these starters will end up evolving into giant powerful creatures, but most players will always associate them them with their cute versions from the beginning of the upcoming game.

This time around players will have a choice between Grookey, Scorbunny, or Sobble. Each starter has a unique personality and skillset, so there should be a perfect fit for each type of Pokemon player. At this point, it sounds like players will still need to wait until later in 2019 to learn more and eventually get hands on with each of the new starters.

It will likely be a long time before Pokemon GO players get a chance to add these new starters to their collection box in the mobile game, but hopefully there will be a connection between Shield/Sword and GO, similar to the one that exists with Let's Go.

Be sure to check back for more Pokemon news, updates, and guides in the coming days. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
