The first DLC expansion for Pokemon Sword and Shield, the Isle of Armor, will be available later this week. One of the major additions coming with this DLC is Sword and Shield's new Mythical Pokemon Zarude, who was set to star in the anime film Pokemon the Movie: Coco starting in July for Japanese audiences. However, the movie's release has officially been delayed.

Pokemon the Movie: Coco will now debut sometime this winter due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, according to sites like the anime streaming service Crunchyroll. The delay was apparently announced in the July 2020 issue of Shogakukan's Monthly CoroCoro Comic, though tie-in deals such as Ash Ketchum's hat being added to Sword and Shield will still go on as planned.

The movie is set to follow Ash and Pikachu as they find a Tarzan-like jungle dweller named Coco with some connection to Zarude and a shiny variant of the Generation 2 Mythical Pokemon Celebi. Both of those Pokemon will be offered to those who buy advanced tickets to the movie starting August 7.

The 23rd season of the Pokemon anime series, called Pokemon Journeys in English, was also put on hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, it has recently begun showing again in Japan, and the first 12 episodes are available on Netflix for audiences in the U.S. with more coming in the next few months.
