In Pokemon Sword and Shield, trainers explore Galar, the newest region based on Great Britain. While venturing through the game, they will encounter both new and old faces in the quest to become a Pokemon master. Of course, to accomplish this task trainers will need to capture Pokemon and battle other trainers on the road to the championship. To get there, however, they need to teach their Pokemon the best moves or relearn moves, in some cases.

Pokemon can learn many different moves by leveling up, which is further aided by the variety of TMs in-game. Despite the power each Pokemon can wield, they can only hold four moves at a time. Inevitably, trainers will replace a Pokemon's existing moves with a new one, which can cause regret in hindsight. Alternatively, a Pokemon may not be able to learn a move after being caught because it was at a higher level than when the move could be learned. However, the Move Reminder returns in Generation 8 to help Pokemon in either situation remember moves that were forgotten. This guide will detail where to find this NPC in-game and the relearning process.

Finding the Move Reminder

Throughout the different towns in the Galar region, there will be a Move Reminder at each Pokemon Center. After entering the building, trainers only need to head to the left and approach the Reminder, dressed in a plaid shirt, near the PC. Talking with him will bring up several options including Remember a move.

Afterwards, the Move Reminder will open a list of all Pokemon in your party and box. Clicking on a Pokemon and confirming the selection will pull up a different screen with all of the available moves a Pokemon could relearn. Be aware that in Pokemon Sword and Shield, having a Pokemon relearn a move won't cost anything besides forgetting another move to free up space.

In the end, the Move Reminder and relearning old moves has been greatly streamlined in the Galar region. Trainers should note that the NPC is still located in the Pokemon Center rather than some hard-to-reach location, a change made back in Alola. Furthermore, they will be pleased to hear that relearning a move no longer requires a Heart Scale like in all previous games. Compared to all of the other changes in Generation 8, this is a great change that will prevent burnout from grinding. Finally with no cost, trainers will be more willing to experiment with their Pokemon's move-set in order to be the very best.
