Last November, Nintendo released Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield for the Nintendo Switch, which serve as the eighth generation titles to the longstanding Pokemon franchise. The release of both games received mostly positive reviews from fans and critics despite facing backlash earlier when it was announced that not all pre-existing Pokemon will be included in the games.

Now, players who are holding off the purchase of both games would be happy to know that Pokemon Sword and Shield are currently discounted at Walmart. The retailer is offering both games for $49 each, which is 18% off their original list price of $59.99. It is worth noting that this is the first-ever price drop for the games, so players who are interested in venturing into the Galar region should take advantage of Walmart's deal.

Moreover, a new set of Switch controllers that will feature designs inspired by the three Pokemon Sword and Shield starters are currently available for pre-order right now. These Switch controllers are manufactured by Power A and will release via Amazon on February 14, 2020. All three controllers are priced at $50 each, and closely resembles the design of the Switch Pro controller, which is slightly more expensive.

It is worth noting that these controllers will require AA batteries, and do not have a vibration or Amiibo support. However, the controllers will feature "two advanced gaming buttons" at the back, which are programmable to suit each player's preferences. The overall design of each controller is inspired by one of the three starter Pokemon for Sword and Shield. The Grookey controller sports a green design, the Scorbunny controller is red, and the Sobble controller is blue.

Meanwhile, The Pokemon Company announced at the end of January that a new Mythical Pokemon is scheduled to be revealed soon. The Mythical Pokemon is slated to star in the upcoming movie, which is tentatively titled, Pokemon: The Movie - Coco, and the new creature will also debut in Pokemon Sword and Shield sometime in the future. The official reveal date will take place on Pokemon Day, which falls on February 27, 2020.

Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield are available now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
