When Pokemon Sword and Shield were released, one of the most significant controversies was the fact that players were going to have some difficulty transferring Pokemon from older games to the latest entries. The addition of Pokemon Home will alleviate this issue, and Twitter user Nintendeal has put together an infographic that shows how players can use the service to transfer their old Pokemon to Sword and Shield, assuming they're in the Galar region Pokedex.

The graphic starts with the Pokemon games on the Game Boy Advance and shows the old methods of Pokemon transfer up to the Nintendo DS. Then it gets a bit complicated for users to get their older Pokemon into the newer games. It requires the use of the Pokemon Bank and the newly introduced Pokemon Home to make sure the player's favorite Pokemon can be in the new game.

Transferring Pokemon has always been a part of the franchise in the first two generations transferring Pokemon across generations was as simple as trading the Pokemon from Pokemon Red, Blue, or Yellow to Pokemon Gold, Silver, or Crystal. After the introduction of the 3DS, Game Freak rolled out the Pokemon Bank, a paid subscription service that would hold Pokemon from any game transferred into it.

With the new infographic, players can see how they will be able to send over some of their oldest Pokemon into the latest games. If players have been transferring the same team from game to game, they will be able to move that team from the last game the Pokemon were in into the Sword and Shield. By transferring the Pokemon into the Pokemon Bank, they will be able to send the team over into the new Pokemon Home app. From the Pokemon Home app, they can choose the Pokemon they want to transfer into Pokemon Sword and Shield. Players can even move over the Pokemon they catch from Pokemon GO by using the Pokemon Home app.

The only limitations the Pokemon Home app will have with transferring Pokemon into Sword and Shield is the Pokemon do have to be in the Galar Pokedex. Players can hope that as more content comes to Sword and Shield, snubbed Pokemon can make their way into the games. It is currently unknown if Game Freak will add all Pokemon into the game or stop after the new expansions.

With the expansions Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra on their way, players will be more than prepared to take their old Pokemon into the new areas of the Galar region and interact with the new Pokemon they will find there.

Pokemon Sword and Shield are now available exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
