In the latest quarterly financial results to come from Nintendo, it was revealed that the Switch has had incredible success in the market, having sold a total of 79.87 million units so far, surpassing the lifetime sales of the Nintendo 3DS, which has almost sold 76 million units since its launch back in 2011. Nintendo also released updated sales information for many Switch titles, such as Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Pokemon Sword and Shield are the latest mainline entries in the long-running Pokemon franchise, introducing Poke-fans to the 8th generation of Pokemon. The pair of games allows trainers to explore the Galar region and collect/raise dozens of brand-new pocket monsters. There was also the introduction of a new feature that lets trainers' Pokemon become a bigger size during key moments, like in gym battles for example. These transformations are called Dynamaxing and can even give certain Pokemon a new look if they're capable of Gigantamaxing, another new element of Sword and Shield.

And according to the latest financial results from Nintendo, it seems that these pair of games have managed to become the third highest-selling Pokemon games of all time, sitting right behind Pokemon Red and Blue, and Pokemon Gold and Silver. The title has recently hit over 20 million units in sales and is currently the fifth best-selling Switch game of all time.

As for the other Switch games that are above the recent mainline Pokemon titles in terms of sales, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild takes the 4th spot with 21.45 million copies sold; Super Smash Bros. Ultimate sits at 22.85 million; Animal Crossing: New Horizons is at a whopping 31.18 million sold in less than a year since release; and then Mario Kart 8 Deluxe takes the top spot as the best-selling Switch title of all time with 33.41 million units sold. It's worth noting that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is simply an upgraded port of the 2014 Wii U title.
