At the end of January, The Pokemon Company announced that it was developing a new Mythical Pokemon that would make its debut appearance in the upcoming film Pokemon The Movie: Coco -- the first animated feature set in the eighth generation of Pokemon. The company also claimed that the new Pokemon would be making its way over to the Pokemon Sword and Shield games, though when exactly wasn't specified.

In fact, the announcement didn't disclose many details on the Pokemon at all, not even its name. However, more recent news from Serebii.net claimed that an issue of CoroCoro magazine would give fans a glimpse of what the new Mythical Pokemon looks like, and as of today, that glimpse is here.

It comes in the form of half a silhouette. Serbii.net tweeted out an image of it from the CoroCoro issue it originated from. Admittedly, it's not much of a showcasing -- what with it only being half of a blacked-out Pokemon. But it definitely is a glimpse and provides fans with more information than they previously had.

The half of the Mythical Pokemon shown here makes it look like it has a strong connection to the Tarzan-like character that appears in the movie's trailer. The leg of the Pokemon has the same ring-based design as the armband on the Tarzan character. And -- while this may be reaching a bit -- both characters also have similar wing-like hairstyles.

If one were to go off the similarities in appearance, Coco's Tarzan-like character might actually be the new Mythical Pokemon itself. Some Pokemon do have the ability to shapeshift and mimic human appearances. The Legendary Pokemon Latios and Latias used this power to hide in plain sight in their movie, and Zorua used it to play tricks on people. This new Mythical Pokemon might be mimicking human traits as well for whatever reason. Maybe its to better protect the baby in the trailer.

Whatever the case, fans don't have to wait too much longer to find out what the new Pokemon looks like in detail. In its original announcement, The Pokemon Company did mention that the Pokemon would receive a complete reveal on Pokemon Day, which takes place February 27 this year. Following that, however, Pokemon The Movie: Coco doesn't premiere until July 10, 2020, so fans may have to wait a while to learn the new Pokemon's story.

Pokemon Sword and Shield are available now for the Nintendo Switch.
