The Pokemon Europe International Championships, the first of a series of tournaments to be held throughout the year, has now kicked off. This will pit players against each other in various competitions, such as the Pokemon TCG, Pokemon Sword and Shield, Pokemon GO, and even Pokken Tournament. The competitions are being held in Frankfurt, Germany, with the event taking place over the course of the weekend. The event is being broadcasted live over Twitch with competitors and audience live in attendance. During the livestream, a code was given out for all players Sword and Shield to redeem, which will give them a free Dracovish.

Dracovish is one of Pokemon Sword and Shield's Fossil Pokemon, with a very unorthodox design. Unlike other Fossil Pokemon from past regions, these are the result of different creature combinations that resulted in Pokemon who have been revived incorrectly. Dracovish is one of them, being a combination of the Fossilized Fish and Fossilized Drake items. Despite its unassuming looks, it is one of the most powerful mons in the game, evidenced by it being used by champion in 2020.

The Dracovish that is being distributed is based on the one used by 2020 Oceania International Champion, Marco Silva. Players can obtain this Dracovish through a code that was shown during the 2022 European International Championships livestream, "EU1C2022G1FT." This can be done by going into Pokemon Sword and Shield's Mystery Gift Option in the main menu, and choosing the option to receive this gift by code. Once there, they can input the aforementioned code to obtain this Pokemon. This event will be running for a very limited time, with the cutoff date of April 25, 2022.

With this Pokemon being based on a champion, it has a competitively viable build. It has an Adamant nature, which decreases its Special Attack in favor of raising its Attack stat, a physical attacker moveset, and the ability Strong Jaw, which increases the power of bite related moves. The Dracovish is also given a Choice Scarf hold item, which drastically raises its speed but restricts the Pokemon to using only one move until it is switched out.

This code distribution continues a tradition of limited time mystery gifts. Last year, players were given the chance to obtain a champion's Porygon-Z with a similar code and limited time-frame. These continue to kindle the competitive scene of Pokemon Sword and Shield, with these free Pokemon being a way for fans to be inspired in how to build their own competitively viable teams.

Pokemon Sword and Shield are available now on Nintendo Switch.
