Pokemon Sword and Shield don't launch until November 15, but there have been a number of leaks about the upcoming games that have been appearing online for months now. However, some fans may have noticed that despite all of the Pokemon Sword and Shield leaks, there hasn't been any mention of a new Eevee evolution. Unfortunately for Eevee fans excited to see a new evolution for Pokemon Sword and Shield, it appears as though one doesn't exist.

While it's still technically possible that an Eevee evolution is hiding in Pokemon Sword and Shield, that seems highly unlikely at this point. If a new Eevee evolution did exist for Pokemon Sword and Shield, it would almost certainly have been unearthed by now. This may be especially disappointing for fans, as new Eevee evolutions have traditionally been added every other generation, so some felt they were due one. Not to mention there are still multiple Pokemon types that are needing Eevee evolutions, like Bug, Dragon, Ghost, and more.

The most damning evidence that there is no new Eevee evolution in Pokemon Sword and Shield is that the entire Galar region Pokedex has been leaked, with no mention of the Pokemon at all. But while it is almost guaranteed that there is no new Eevee evolution in Pokemon Sword and Shield, not all hope is lost just yet.

That's because Game Freak is open to the idea of adding Pokemon to Pokemon Sword and Shield post-launch as DLC. So it's possible that the new Eevee evolution could come to the games as part of a post-launch update or through a special event, though it hasn't been clarified if post-launch Pokemon additions will be already-existing Pokemon or brand new ones.

The lack of an Eevee evolution is just the latest unpopular decision that has been made about the new Pokemon games. Previously, the lack of a national Pokedex caused quite a bit of backlash, as fans were upset that they couldn't literally catch 'em all in the new games. Whether or not any of that controversy impacts the sales of Pokemon Sword and Shield remains to be seen, however.

Pokemon Sword and Shield will launch on November 15, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
